Ladies, help! I started using OPKs on CD6 and they've been showing no test line at all, so completely negative. Just did today's for CD9 and it's almost positive, the test line is as strong as the control line along one edge and then about half as strong by the time it gets to the other edge. Problem is, it turns out AF hadn't quite finished with me yet and yesterday and today I've had a brownish loss. Only a bit but enough to put me off BDing...

If my OPK has gone from zero to about 85% strength in 24 hours, does that mean that I'm likely to ovulate in the next 24 hours or so? Or do OPKs sometimes show a strong line for days before becoming as strong as the control line? This is my first month using them so I don't really have any idea how many days it's normal to get a strongish line for. I have no EWCM at all yet.

    Thanks ladies!

  • Had my appointment this morning, was really impressed with the clinic, they were all so friendly & helpful there. Was all very positive, I've been prescribed clomid & motformin & something to give me a bleed so I don't have to wait for ages for AF. Need to go back for a scan on CD10-12. Very exciting, a bit scary too but glad to finally be getting somewhere.

Any climid ladies have any tips for dealing with any side effects.

mouthscradle - i have had quite dark lines and then no lines again before getting a positive so think things can surge at different times. Day 9 does seem quite early but everyone is different.

Glad things went well princess kate.

  • Hello all, sorry for the BFNs.

Mogwai and Claire, I tried to answer the other night but the broadband kept dropping out so I gave up :)

I didn't think it needed timing to the minute :) I haven't had a positive yet and I haven't even done one today! I just forgot, been busy. The others (started on CD10) not a positive in sight. I am 41 so obviously there's the possibility of not ovulating anyway. My periods are pretty regular, at most 1 day out. I don't have any reference point re menopause as my mum had a complete hysterectomy in her late 30's and both nans have popped it.

I know I can go to the Drs before the 6 month trying thing due to what happened last year and my age.

I think partly, if I'm not ovulating, it would be a stress thing. I'm always stressing and don't sleep very well which isn't going to help.

    It's weird, I'm not a stress-head generally...
