It's difficult to calculate how that would equate to say a cubic metre of kiln-dried natural wood logs in terms of how long it would last and how well it would burn. But the logs would cost around £80-100 here in S Wales. So it would need to be significantly better to justify the price.

I just ordered some Aspen hardwood briquettes from them for this years heating currently they are on special price. Thought I order a large lot rather than usually seasoned logs

980KG FULL PALLET OF ASPEN HARDWOOD HEAT LOGS for £209, that's 490 hardwood briquettes much cheaper than this site for 500 for £318 http://www.woodfuel.coop/store/p6/Aspen%3A_100_x_10kg_%281%2C000kg%29.html

Well done for posting - I filled my boots with this offer a few weeks ago and forgot to post it. One pallet of aspen, one pallet of BioBark.

I've burned Verdo before but this was the first try with these. With the colder weather at the end of May I had a chance to try them.

The Aspen burned very well, very hot and better than the Verdo in my opinion.

The BioBark is more of a long term project to work out the temperature to burn them at. I have a big stove - 12kW. I am currently trying with four at once. If I burn them with a gentle flame they still only last a couple of hours or so. To achieve the claimed 6-10 hours you would have to burn them very inefficiently I think... but I'm willing to be talked around.

Problem burning wood slowly is that the temperature within the firebox will not be hot enough to combust the creosote gases given off by all woods. these then condense in the chimney or flue and line it with tar, which of course is combustible.

Buy a stove temperature gauge and run the stove at the 'Best Operating Temp' setting.

Yes, thanks, I agree, that's why I said-what-I-said about burning efficiently.

I have a stove temperature gauge.

I'm just pointing out that the claimed burning times of those bark logs don't seem achievable in an efficient way. At least, so far.

I tried the Verdo before still have some left pretty pleased with the results. Ordering in bulk was expensive around £3 for 6 per pack where as home bargains have them for less a pack.

Yeah... I would've been happy with Home Bargains but having to pressurise my tyres (because of the weight in the car), then lug them around, then de-pressurise was a bit of a pain! So when I saw the above offer for such a large load it made sense.

The delivery driver wasn't happy though - they rather overfill the pallets imo and it was a struggle to get them off the truck. Make sure access is as easy as possible.

My street in on a slope not that steep and if lorry cant delivery them despite lorries like Currys, DFS have no issues for same size lorry, there is a flat bit further on the street around 20 feet away, so they can drop them off there and I will lug them into garage with a wheelbarrow. I am going to stock on on some verdo too like to have plenty of options and can always do for next year. Cant buy many either as nearest store is 40 miles away

I had settled on Verdo briquettes as best/value fuel for our WBS so thanks for your recommendation of Aspen heatlogs. I've ordered a pallet. :)

For those interested in the Verdo logs, they are now running a summer sale - £249 incl VAT delivered. If you're on their mailing list you can get the code (I don't think it's fair to repeat here).
