Sleeping over.
Decided to get a life, and give TA a wide berth.:wave:0 -
Its only an internet forum.
being banned isnt life shattering.0 -

So you admit to unwarranted name-calling in order to gain attention and then you complain your account was disabled? Sorry but I'm finding it hard to have a lot of sympathy with you.0 -

I didn't do any name calling on TA that warranted my account being disabled. What you're referring to is my opening posting on this thread [which I've since edited and toned down a bit].
I joined TA to give first hand advice [and receive it], and spent a lot of time doing just that. But some people treat TA as a playground, and it's v.annoying to see threads containing good, sound advice getting regularly high-jacked and veered way off-topic by these small cliques.
If you don't believe me, then tune in to the TA Tunisia Forum for a short while.
It's just me and the eggs from now on...

To me, a discussion forum is just that, a place to have discussions
Normal discussions between like minded people have a habit of digressing onto other things and generally veering away from the initial points being discussed if they go on for a bit.
I really don't see anything wrong with posts going OT after a while, those posters that have a higher reading on the OCD meter** than me may find it slightly annoying and those that are at the top of the meter reading will find it unacceptable.
** I know there no such thing as an OCD meter
Anyway, I'm off to Tenerife in a few weeks, wont that be nice?
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
If you were that desperate to be a member of TA you could always use a proxy server, as it sounds like your IP address has been banned too. You could use proxy servers such as hidemyass or proxythat(female dog), a simple google search will bring any of them up.
Hope that helps0 -

It's only 12 hours since my demise. That forum must be more hilarious breakfast reading than the 'currant bun'...

I notice that it's alright on one thread to admit to being a middle aged woman and enjoying the attention of young Tunisian men, and in another thread advising folk that as they're in a muslim country they should be respectful of their surroundings!0 -

I hope I can resist that temptation!

See replies #76 and #89 on this thread, by an attention seeker [self-edited]..

The bloke with all the first class postings [LancasterLad] reported the above postings as not only going 'off-topic', but also acting disrespectfully and in a way that had no intention to do anything other than hijack a very informative thread.
Guess what? Poor old LancasterLad, with over 5,000 postings on TA got the big heave from TA. Admittedly it wasn't a one-off, but it's so easy for the good guys to get ganged up on, and that's what happened to poor old LL.
LL now wants to plead his case direct with TA. Anyone know the online route to follow?

"It wasn't a one-off"......
So you (as you admitted later in the thread that you were LancasterLad) have been involved in some issues with Tripadvisor previously?
I post regularly on TA (although not on the Tunisia board) and it can be a bit cliquey and it can get quite nasty at times.
I didn't see any bullying on the thread.
I've read the posts you mention (#76 & #89) and couldn't see anything that wrong with them (other than they were off-topic).
I also read the whole thread and thought you gave some great advice & information.
Then you decided to have a side-swipe about the thread deteriorating to talking about toilets (reply #47).
IMHO, the thread went way off-topic and if it had been me, I'd have bailed out long before.
Lots of threads do go off-topic, this just went the same way.
I have a personal policy on TA only to report posts that are clearly advertising.
If people want to go off-topic or have a spat, I leave them to it.
If there's any threads that I know I won't like or be interested in, I just don't open them - pretty much the same as here.
I'm not sure you have much chance in getting yourself reinstated - which is a shame if (as it seems) you're a good source of information.
But that's life on an public forum. :cool:0
