I am 30 years old with only 4 years experience
I've got this car on 5 years contract with Arnold Clarke
what if my insuranced will call me, can't I just say we agreed it's 50/50 and decided to pay for it's own damange ourselfs? I don't think they will bother about it untill my insurance company contact them as they have only a few scratches on there + I forgot to mention that he hit me after I have stopped behind the traffic lights in front of me, but how am I supposed to prove it? I would prefer just to pay for my own damage myself and don't worry about anything0 -

You forgot that? The damage to your car suggests otherwise, especially the wheel which appears to have been turning to sustain the damage shown and are you saying you pulled forward a few metres after the collision? . . . or did the truck back up a bit afterwards?? very odd
I forgot to mention that he hit me after I have stopped(ok maybe when I have almost stopped at 1-3 m/h speed, cannat remember 100% as I had a little shock) behind a few cars in front of me, which have stopped at the traffic lights.... is this any better explained?0 -
sorry I think I made a mistake when wrote the message, let me to start again:

Then why would you not wish to make a claim? Someone scuffed my bumper (3 month old car, was nearly £2k to repair) , I would suspect your damage there would be similar or more (depending on where you take it). You won't have to pay excess if the other party admit liability or more so their insurers. What dialogue was exchanged at the scene? I don't think you have suggested what was 'agreed' at the time? Likewise the lorry driver could claim you cut across his path and he may have video evidence to back this up, also there is a tachograph in the lorry which will give indication of the speeds.0 -
I wouldn't bother with the police or insurance. Take the hit and repair it yourself. Learn from it
Do NOT do this. There may be lots more damage than you realise.
It hit the wheel, so as well as a new alloy (£300?) you may have damaged the suspension as well.
Ive seen a similar accident to this before (a guy came off his motorbike and hit the wheel of a stationary car) but there was no visible damage at all.
The cost exceeded £2000.
If you want to take the hit, don't say we didn't warn you.0 -
I also wouldn't go changing your story either to fit whatever version makes you look best.
Those pics you posted are now forever archived on the internet and searchable if you submitted them for a claim. That would throw up this thread. The first post said you both went for the same lane, whereas now you say you were stationary.
Deleted or edited posts can also have the origianl version called up from archives too.0 -
I am coming back by this road from work Mon-Fri for the last 2 years now and all the drivers drive from that lane in the same way I did in that accident and I used to go from the right lane to the middle late for the first while before as well but a few drivers started arguening with me and beeping, that's why I started doing it differently( like everyone else).... I was not saying I am right here, I was just asking for people's opinion matey
Just because people are doing it one way and beeping horns means nothing...
there is a section of road where I live 2 lanes go into traffic lights then turn to 4 lanes after, one clearly says "the butts only" the other lane goes into the other 3. Yet 90% of people who get in "The butts only" lane cut you up and they will beep their horn at you and swear... when they are the idiots that can't read 3 very simple words ... it is soooo annoying! I've gotten used to expecting them to be in the wrong place now.
Anyway my advice...
1 - None of us can say really if it's your fault or not, we don't know the road we didn't see the accident, I looked on google maps and it does look to be a tricky bit of road! Lorries make me very nervous on bits of road like that anyway because of them needing more space, so I always try and let them go first, might be worth noting for future
2 -Phone your insurance company. As someone else said not giving your insurance company all the info could cost you a lot lot more in the long run. If you lose some no claims and your insurance goes up - kick yourself - learn from it...it happens... move on
It's minor damage, it could have been a lot lot worse.
I know people complain about insurance companies, but my car was written off 10 months ago, my insurance company was absolutely amazing and have handled everything, even down to my forms to get my personalised plates on retention. I still haven't replaced my car yet but I will be going back to them no matter what.
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -
If you dont inform them and they find out from the other party you had an accident they wont look on you favourably.
They may just wonder what else you failed to disclose to them. They may even cancel your insurance. You will need to declare that possibly forever.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thanks a lot for all your answers, I will contact my insurer0
