Do Sky repeat their new TV shows?

My Virgin loyalty discount has run out so I'm considering switching to Sky, which works out a similar price, and has Sky Atlantic (Game of Thrones), and Fox (Walking Dead, new 24 etc). My question is, do Sky repeat their TV series, or only show them once? I want to see the new seasons of GoT and TwD, but they are already being shown or hack been shown.

Sky is better at repeating than Fox. But if you're late to a brand new series you may have to wait for it to finish before they repeat again from the beginning. Some series end up On Demand and you can watch the whole thing straight away.

Currently there are no Game of Thrones On Demand but there are 6 eps from Season 1 and the first 2 eps from Season 2 in the planner (i.e. to be shown in the next 7 days).

The Walking Dead has the first 3 seasons On Demand. Only season 4 episode 8 is currently in the schedule for the next 7 days.
  • Yeh that's what I feared. I was hoping to do Game of Thrones season 3 and Walking Dead season 4 if I switched, but it looks like I have the timing wrong. If they put them on On Demand though then that would be ideal.

Game of Thrones 1-3 goes OD March 1st
    The Walking Dead 1-3 now
    24 season 1&8 now

Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
  • Yeah, perfect jumping on point is now for all those series.
  • Usually after the first showing, it will be repeated then repeated then repeated then repeated. Then it will be shown on Sky 2 and repeated and repeated and repeated. Then it will be on Pick and then repeated and repeated and repeated.
I think the OP is talking about repeats of shows which Sky have kept as exclusives on Sky Atlantic. He doesn't want to wait for Game Of Thrones etc to become so old that it is being repeated on the other channels (where he could watch them via Virgin Media)
  • Twice a week from memory? Hence the 'second-chance-Sunday' billing a while back. May have changed though.
  • Thanks, I'll have to look into that boxset thing.

Sky Atlantic is great at re running good quality shows. I have watched Sopranos, Wire and House as re runs. Currently I'm watching Mad Men.

You have unfortunately missed GoT by a couple of weeks. They are running it three episodes a week on Sunday nights. As Moto2 said though, if you have the correct package you will be able to catch it on OD before the new season begins.

If you can't then just set up a Sky account on the Sky website and you can use their Never Miss service. If you set up a never miss for the first season of any show you are interested in and they will send you an email as a reminder when S1 begins and then for every future season.

  • Shame that the boxset thing is only on the top package. I might be better going for the website thing. Either that or the basic Sky package, and just pick up the boxset for the seasons of GoT and TwD which I've just missed.

Do Sky do repeats? Bit like asking 'Does it ever rain in the UK?'!
