Well, I think that as Tinkledom has been sneering at this illness, through many threads, it was probably taken as offensive, because it was meant to be.

No disability is an 'only' because nothing operates in isolation - things interact with each other (in my view anyway...:))

For what it's worth, with this site, I accept, as do all others, I expect, that the boards like Discussion Time are places where brickbats are hurled, and it's often contentious.

But, for the pure advice boards, then, really, it is people looking for practical advice or support, and having to play 'who is the most disabled'? with someone who is a WUM, is not really a good thing!

I don't think it's censorship, it's just good manners not to sneer at the disabilities of others.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

Hes a troll, we all know he is a troll and I was not commenting on his posts is general because I dont even read them but in this case his post was repeated by another user and this part of his post is not offensive when read as a stand alone comment.

I dont know why people allow trolls to wind them up, it gives them what they want, it gives them power over you. I cant be bothered with them, life is to short and wont encourage trolls by giving them what they want.

People with preconceptions read things diffrently than people without, the word just mean what the dictonary say it means.

I read all the boards in the same way, I cant change the way I interprate things at will, I dont see my Aspergers as a problem and it certainly isnt a disability to me. I read a thread (except trolls unless their posts are quoted) and if I reply my reply will be the same no matter which board it is on.

I am not sneering at anyone or anything, I certainly wanst sneering at ME or any other disability, Im just commenting on a sentance and its meaning to someone reading without preconceptions.

Tinkledom / Andy joined this thread even though the OP asked him to stay away. He started his first of many posts by saying he does not accept ME and considers it another of these 'American' ideas, put a name to something that can't be proven to be anything else.

He does not give a correct description of ME, and his words are offensive.

His posts might be offensive, I dont know because I dont read them but that sentance wasnt offensive when read as a stand alone sentance and that is what I was commenting on and that only.

Quite simply dear Andy, because we have to deal with people every day like you, who say that we only 'claim' to have an illness.

With regards to you doubting how M.E. could affect someone's ability to go out and about psychologically, let me refer you to Dr Charles Shepherd (frankly, The medical authority on CFS, He's the chap who discovered it) and his tome 'Living with M.E.' in which it explains that one of the most common symptoms of M.E. is... Anxiety. BOOM

You know what, you want to stay on this thread, which is about M.E. (and actually, about ME, ho ho, I'm so funny) then go and do some RESEARCH... There's a lot of frankly, incredibly interesting literature on M.E. (there's less on 'me' but I'll get there one day). And I for one, would be DELIGHTED to hear what you think about M.E. having read some of the information on this disease. Might I suggest Dr Shepherd's book as a starting point, referred to by many of us spoonies as 'The M.E. Bible', regardless of whether you have the disease or not, I think you might find it interesting reading... perhaps it might even occupy your time so you feel no need to spam this already spam filled thread... sandwich anyone?
    Lol!!
Well said Tillyenna well said!! I can't believe how blinkered some people can be. I have fibromyalgia Andy, probably another one of those so called syndromes you don't believe in. I was diagnosed at hospital by a Rheumatologist!! Go figure!! Brain fog is horrendous. Some days I could cry because I can't string a sentence together, I slur my words and have people look at me as though I am drunk!! I can't remember what I had for dinner the night before. I try and read before bed to relax me but I read the same bits over and over again because it doesn't go in. Sometimes I think the brain fog is worse than the constant crippling pain I'm in, but don't let me get started on that!!!!

I'm not wound up at all, as I have been on forums much to long to react to trolls lol.

As you say, people can post what they like, but, by the same token, anyone offended also has the right to say so!

  • It's not your problem, you have enough of your own to deal with.

As you have chronic pancreatitis, and by your own admission was caused by alcohol abuse, these people with ME, here looking for help and advice, may well look at your posts and consider that problem to be self inflicted. Even that above statement is not true. Chronic pancreatitis does not cause pancreatic cancer.

Now run along and leave those with ME alone. I repeat, it's not your problem.

Of course it is my problem. What do you do if you can't understand something? Walk away and just accept it?

Of course it is self inflicted. I'm now waiting for the warriors to come out and demonise me, putting me in the same category as druggies and those that take part in dangerous sports - they don't deserve any benefits - they brought their problems on themselves.

Try posting that alchies and druggies shouldn't get benefits on this site and see what happens.

Sorry, but from the horses mouth so to speak, my consultant who happens to be a world leading authority on Pancreatitis and has published many medical text books on the subject tells me that it DOES generally lead to pancreatic cancer. In fact the percentage is 3 out 4 go on to develop it.
  • Tinkledom, you have written almost four hundred posts in four weeks.
Not bad for someone with your problems and caring responsibilities.

I have plenty of spare time at the moment. One of our daughters is staying over and helping me out whilst her hubby is away on holiday for a few weeks. I still however carry out at least 5 hours a day caring duties.

Wow!! You have all those problems yet you can still do 5 hours of caring!! You must be one of a kind!!!

    Of course!!

I wouldn't want to run the risk of losing the underlying entitlement to CA now would I. My wife has more of a problem accounting for her 35 hours a week, but somehow she seems to just manage it every week - call it good accounting.

It is a free and open forum where anyone can post. I uphold that right - hence I post where I want on what I want.

Suggest you have that argument with the moderators.... I think they will disagree that anyone has a "right to post" this forum has rules Such as not posting offensive or degoratory comments ... Numerous times in this thread you have been told your posts are offensive by multiple posters... Suggest you read them before you get Banned ...again.

Hope the following gives you hope with your condition- again I am not commenting on your circumstances ... I disagree that your posts seem to make out that nearly everyone with chronic pancreatitis is on a ticking pancreatic cancer and death timebomb when that is not the case.

(I am a qualified health care professional and the below info is from a reputable medical pooled analysis study).

It is estimated that one per cent of pancreatic cancer cases are linked to chronic pancreatitis. - Source (Duell EJ, Lucenteforte E, Olson SH et al. Pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer risk: a pooled analysis in the International Pancreatic Cancer Case-Control Consortium (PanC4). Ann Oncol.
