Sounds like you may have never had a brand new car before? New cars can be bothersome sometimes too.
Anyways considering it is now a new month, perhaps he dealership wanted a deal closed by the end of the month and hence why the special deal was on the table? I don't know, what about meeting halfway on £21k on a delivery mileage example? For me though brand new cars have to be a bespoke example.

To be honest I would have been happy to pay another £1000 but they are saying that they only have one other similar car and that's their demonstrator and that would have to be another £6000 minimum if he can get authorisation to do that.

Yes I see exactly what you are saying but this was a brand new vehicle, pre registered with the full manufacturers warranty so how on earth could it be a bag of nails.

I'd guess it could be a bag of nails because it's a Jeep Wrangler diesel, whether it's brand new or not. I doubt if you will find many people on here with a good opinion of them.

Why is it that whenever someone puts a post about buying a car there are always more posts telling them they are buying the wrong car than posts actually helping with their problem.

they entered into a verbal contract with me for the car
    Verbal contract? What verbal contract?

The point I'm making is: if it isn't in writing, you can't prove anything.

It always pays to have things in writing before getting your hopes up and especially before parting with any cash, even if it means travelling immediately to the site in person. Take everything that comes from a salesman's mouth with a very large pinch of salt.
