I feel there's an air of flippancy amongst the newly BR and those about to, creeping in. This is serious stuff guys and gals and not to be taken lightly with:T and:rotfl: . It's really not funny. Don't even consider trying to put one over on the OR. There are no privacy laws where he's concerned, he can find out anything about you. If you do try it on and are found out, God help you, he'll be all over you like a rash! Those of you waiting for your OR interview may be in for a huge surprise. I fully understand the immediate elation of being debt free, I've been there. You come back to earth with a huge bump when you realise what your future life is going to be like. The car or washer breaks down, once you would have paid for the repair on a card. You aint got one! You apply for a job and are turned down and it can be for no other reason than BR. You don't even have a proper bank account so shopping without cash is difficult.
It's HUGE decision to make and no laughing matter. Make sure you take advice and dont give out the wrong signals to anyone lurking and thinking about the deed

Hi POst,
Sorry about the way I have been today - it's been a bit of a roller coaster day what with the debt agency phoning and thinking I might have mucked up my OH's business, and then relieved I haven't, and my SOA benig on paper. I totally agree it is a huge and serious matter and do feel throughouly ashamed to be going BR (not that this is judgement on anyone else that is) and am trying to be positive about it so I don't cry.
Sorry to anyone who thinks I'm making a mockery of it, I seriuosly do not think that, and hope I come out of it all without going loopy.Do not feed the trolls please.0 -
To a huge extent i agree Post, BR ISN't funny, its scarey as hell!
theres a huge amount of brill advice available here, all from people who have been there, done it etc. but its nice to have a 'little' lightheartedness. The only thing i have left is my soh. no pride, no money no credit.
Its a sorry state of affaires though when i feel my whole life is a mess because i can't get credit, something i took so much for granted a year ago. something our parents didn't need yet still managed to get by.The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter

Posthinking,
That was a reasonable comment but you missed a heck of a lot of other salient points. I have absolutely no sympathy for some lazy jerk that's never done anything with his life other than run up a few thousand pounds worth of consumer debt and then declared bankruptcy.
I don't think that's what you're seeing here though; it's an elation at being free of a burden that's plagued them for a long time for all sorts of reasons. I see very little sign of people trying to deceive the O.R and those that do are likely to fail as has been well documented here.

Post I do appreciate what you're saying, it's just that different people deal with things in dfferent ways. I for one would rather sit here and joke about it as if I didn't I would sit here and cry. I'm sure there are other people posting here that feel the same.
I don't know about other people here but I for one am certainly not being flippant about anything. It has taken me months of stress and uncertainty to reach the decision I have. To be honest I think that posts like this will put people right off, rather than come in further and ask for help. I know if I was a newbie here and read that post it would have put the fear of god into me and put me right off.
That said, and as I have said previously, I do accept what you're saying, I just think there are ways and means of saying it.Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
I have to add, that Bankruptcy is pretty !!!!!!, but once it is done there is no point looking back. It is a turning point. Lots of things about it still scare me, but at the same time, life is so much easier, and sometimes it's like it never all really happened. It is really weird.
Then out of the blue letters appear from the OR and you feel sick to your stomach and scared to open them, but then it's ok. It was just official confirmation that your cars are not included as assets in the BR.
It is a whirlwind, one that I am too scared to make light of in case it all goes tits up.:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0 -
Havent really felt like posting, since someone on this board said 'yeah we've all done it, spent beyond our means, I took out credit I had no intention of paying back...'
Made me feel sick, and like that isn't the kind of person I want to mix with.:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0 -
Richard, I could have written war and peace but there's a place and time for comments like the ones of late. Had I been a lurker I'd have thought BR was a breeze but we both know it's certainly not. In my original post I mentioned the elation felt at first. It soon fades.0

Claire, If I was a newbie lurking it would have made me think about the posts I'm talking about which was what I intended. Never forget we are here for support and help and to pretend its a breeze is deceiving those needing help most0

Foxy,
For God's sake get some perspective; you don't normally have any problems.

Criminals enjoy good food and wine and dare I say it "making love".
Does that mean we have to forgo those pleasures just because low lifes enjoy them too?
Pas moi, mon cherie
You always come out hunting just when it's my bed time
