Blind, if that was the last resort for you then I have no issue with that. Claire if someone seeks an alternative route first then surely that cant be so bad. BR should be the very last resort. I think we just need to agree to differ on this one0

I think I understand what Posthinking was trying to say. I've been here a while, so I can see the point some have made about his initial post possibly frightening newbies. But couldn't the same thing be said about some of the other posts here? I'm all for a bit of lightheartedness, but I also wonder about some recent posts looking for ways to not declare assets. Maybe also seeing those might have prompted Posthinking's post, I don't know.
As for those who used to post here not being around, the forum isn't dependent on the same few people. I would hate to think people don't want/bother to ask questions because without certain people here they don't think they'll get a trustworthy answer any more. Some of the people who don't post here as regularly now have great knowledge, but so do many of the rest of us who are still here & our knowledge grows all the time. As we all go through this, we all pick up information along the way, & a person who started posting with little/no knowledge about going BR will be amazed at how quickly their knowledge improves. They can provide assistance on things they have experience of just as much as someone who's been around here for several months, & I'm glad to see them do it - if something is posted that's incorrect, there are still plenty of us around who can steer the person in the right direction. Plus, we can support each other whether we've here a week or a year. We can all learn from each other.

Just to add my 2p worth.
Not every BR case is the same. Every case is individual and unique . Yes there are those who see it as an easy option but for every one of those, I`ll wager there are 20 who have sweated blood and agonised for weeks over the right way to address their situation.
At the end of the day the judge can always throw an application out if he/she thinks the appropriate steps have not been taken. ( ie, professional advice and a bit of soul searching)
Maybe the advisors should be advised to advise against BR in more circumstances??
I had no choice and have had a relatively trouble free BR before my discharge. I know it`s not the same for all.
