I have to say that I love PetPlanet. I've used them even before I got my two kittens. We've set a budget of £70 for their food, litter, treats and standard grooming items. Our male has developed a urinary tract problem due to, too much dry food so we've switched to a high quality wet food. Which can be very expensive.

This month other sites were selling the food (12x100g pouches) for £3.99 but PP was offering 3for2. We require a minimum of 5 boxes to feed them for the month so even though I was paying more per box I managed to get 6 boxes for nearly the same as it was for 5 on other sites. Their litter was also on sale 3 bags for £15, again we use the best stuff that works and the cats like. It's clumping so lasts a lot longer then standard litter. With my savings on food and litter I was able to take advantage of a marked down price on a water fountain which will be good for our male to encourage him to drink more to help his problem. It came with a free mat that holds it in place.

So I was very happy overall. I also find their service pretty good, I've never had a wrong order or had to wait more then 5 days to get any order I've placed, even when they've said something was out of stock. As I buy in bulk for the month I never have to pay for shipping.

I also find the reviews really helpful and I think they go a long way to make people happy which is just as important as saving money IMHO.

    Hello all.

I'm a vet who runs my own medium sized small animal practice, and recently I looked on some of these veterinary drugs websites to see what all the fuss was about.

I was shocked to see that these companies can sell drugs to the public for less than I can buy them cost price from my suppliers!

I can completely understand why people would want to use these services but just a note of caution: vets don't have big profit margins, and they are the only ones legally able to provide veterinary treatment for your animals. Accordingly, not unreasonably, if they see their profits hit by reduced drug sales, they will claw that back by increasing their treatment costs - something that is not open to competition in the general marketplace. And as will be allowed later in the year, by charging for prescriptions that you will require to legally purchase from the online drug stores.

If I were you, I would take advantage of these deals, but don't publicise them too much because if more and more people do the same, your vet bills will get bigger and bigger.......
  • I have used www.Bestpetpharmacy.co.uk for the last year as my cat needs the Hills CD prescription diet dry food. I find them reasonable in comparison to other sites and wonderful to deal with. They deliver very quickly and once I ordered the dog food by mistake and they exchanged it no problem. They are great for the Frontline spot on aswell. I get 6 for the same price as I get 3 at the vets.
    I would definitely recommend them.

  • I have recently looked online to find some long term medication for my dog. He is getting quite old and the insurance company have stopped paying my bills. I have managed to save over £100 per month of my vets bill by using Bestpet.co.uk If I hadn't found an alternative to my vets I would have hated to think what the future would have been for my poor dog Sam. The service from bestpetwas excelent and my medication was here the day after I placed the order. I would definatly recomend them to anyone in my situation.:T
  • hi, I recommend petdispensary.co.uk also, just got drontal wormers, offer of buy 3 get 1 free, works out about £1.27 each!! defo the cheapest I found on the net arrived next day also!
  • The cat food (James Wellbeloved) is only little over a pound cheaper on the Petsupermarket website and with the delivery charge works out more expensive than buying it from my usual pet shop, which is an independent shop and not a chain or supermarket!

Update just discovered Advocate will cover for everything: as recently discovered that Stronghold only covered fleas & ear mites but not all worms!

I will save stress/time/money on buying
ear drops (& vet consultations to check there are mites)
worming tablets (the hassle/time of counting whether it's `time' & then forcing them to swallow them).

For me this is good economy & cats are happier too. However if the Tom didn't sleep out or hunt ocassionally I would just use a basic flea treatment (as the other is a housecat & only wanders the balcony).
