I had the letters and phone call from these people (I had more than two letters, when they rang I was so annoyed I said that if my Sky box breaks either Sky will fix or replace it, or else I would cancel. They were so persistent. I hadn't realised they were a scam   :eek:0 -
I too have had this letter plus a number of phone calls about warranties (I am pretty sure that the phone calls are from Sky though) but have not taken up any of the offers- in fact I ignore the calls that come through as it tends to be 0800 numbers that come up on the caller ID and I figure if it's important they'll leave a message0

i had one of these calls a few weeks ago and was told that my warranty was about to expire, to which i explained that we had another five months left on our warranty and i was not interested anyway, to which i had a very hasty thankyou and sorry to trouble you!!!!!!!!!!!A freebie a day sends a smile my way!

I think there was a post a while ago which said that in with your Sky mag the other month was a very small notice changing the terms and conditions of Sky subscribers - the change being that Sky now had the right to 'sell on' your details to other companies to contact you.
If these warranty letters are quite a recent thing, then it may have something to do with that. We have had calls from Sky about extending the warranty - but as another poster says, if it breaks, ring up to cancel and they will soon send somebody round to fix it. Alternatively, cancel and wait for a new offer.0 -

Its not a new thing as its been going on for years. Still don't believe its Sky selling on details as they would be acting in competition with themselves to sell the insurance. The ones who phone you up will only admit to not being Sky if you push them on it.0 -
I have just received a telephone call from these people, very pushy and insisted that I would have to pay if my Skybox went wrong.
Needless to say, I refused all their special offers and referred them to this site.:rotfl:0 -
I had the phone call from these scammers too, let them keep talking for a while before telling them that they were obviously trying to scam me as their opening line was that my sky box warrenty was about to run out. Was only installed 4 months ago :rotfl: also added that I would never consider taking extend warranty.2008 Wins - January-£238, Feb-£181, March-£155April Wins - Grand Prix Book (£13)Win £2008 in 2008 Member 308

I have been told that there was an article by Mail on Sunday's Investigative Journalist Tony Hetherington into a similar sort of scam in this weekends Mail.

I had a letter from a similar company too, telling me I needed to purchase an extended Sky warrenty as mine was going to run out soon. Strange, because I don't have Sky!! But my block of flats DOES have a communal Sky dish, so they probably just sent the letter to all the flats in hope that someone does fall for their scam!
I just filled their pre-paid envelope up with junk mail and sent it back to them.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
