I don't think anyone has suggested that the OP is lying. I think the point (as I read it) was that they are able to access this forum and therefore could use the same method for job searching.

    I think they were.

surely the OP is not daft, if s/he could use the same method why would they be asking the question?

This has all changed now and it's done by your local authority.

budgeting loans are still with the government, it's crisis payments that have been moved to local councils.

And I think they weren't, but we will never know unless the poster comes back and clarifies.

Again, we don't know if the OP is daft or not, there are plenty of daft people out there.

Just as a side point, the OP had a £400 budget for a new laptop a couple of weeks ago. Just for web access for job seeking, something a lot cheaper would suffice.

why don't you let them answer then.

Because they have gone offline. If they want to come back and clarify then fine, I'm not stopping them and if they confirm that they were accusing the OP of lying then I retract my comments.
  • Post a new thread in the Techie Stuff forum and we might be able to get you running for the fraction of the cost of a new computer.

phone, or a friends laptop...any number of ways, if you are suggesting the OP is lying, then why bother even replying to the thread?

I wasn't suggesting they were lying. Why would they start a thread about not having a laptop if they had a laptop? Makes no sense.

I asked the question because If they are using a tablet or a phone then they could sell the smart phone and buy a bog standard phone and a bog standard laptop, instead of expecting another handout so they don't have to walk to a library.

Yet if they can't use the same method how will they possibly get to the replies?

This is a money saving website.

The op is asking if he can save any money by getting the government to provide him with a laptop.

    Where's the problem with that.
  • They can save plenty of money by using the same facilities they used to post on here. No problem with that given they're only on £60/week.
