Have TalkTalk gotten any better?

No. They lie constantly. Make sure you record all conversations with these people. I think they must have corporate lessons in lying. They continued to bill me for months after leaving them. For every lie they used as an excuse to justify stealing from my account i provided evidence that they were lying. They simply replaced that lie with another lie etc.0

Im with plusnet, so glad I changed. I lost internet connection and I had no wifi in my home, they said it was something I did, refused to send me a new router, wanted to charge me 50 quid for an engineer to come out, after I changed to plusnet have had absolutely no issues with my wifi or my internet connection and the offices are based in leeds, staff very helpful.
I wish I had changed over ages before I did.0 -
TalkTalk user here
(also got plusnet for backup! as I work from home)
TalkTalk's call centre is no worse really than any other large ISP's, you can end up speaking to someone really helpful or you can get someone who can't speak a word of English but that's what happens when you run such a big organisation, you can't get 500 members of staff that all have the same capabilities.
For price, they are pretty hard to beat! I've had no problems with their service since moving back that wasn't resolved either on the phone or within 24 hours.
Their young TV platform is evolving, it's a great setup! everything can be done online and no messing around calling expensive numbers to change parts of your package like with Sky!
I'm a happy camper, currently sync'd at 18.4Mbps down and 1Mbps up with 13 days uninterrupted service (would of been in excess of a month, but I'm helping them test some equipment so had to swap out my old router).

No they have not got any better. Got a call last week a lady had lost her internet connection and had spoken to TT (AOL).
Seems her modem is faulty they will send a new one. Going to take a few days to a week.
I pop in and have a look. Its connected to the internet but wont login to aol. My login details work though.
3 phone calls later it turns out they have locked her account because she received a dodgy email that may have been a virus.
No mention of this when she tried to login and none of the people she spoke to told her.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The post office mail system is quicker than my Tiscali(TT) email.0

Okay...lol
So what I get from this is - sometimes they're good, sometimes not. Sounds like they've raised their service levels to that of any broadband provider.
One other thing, on BT Openreach's 'Fibre network checker' it says I can get Fibre broadband but all the broadband providers say I can not.
How does this work out?0 -

That's because the likes of TalkTalk and Sky (who have their own backhaul) haven't connected their network to the Openreach fibre network at your exchange...can take days/weeks/months. So as things stand you can only order fibre via a BT wholesale based isp such as BT (obviously), Plusnet, Zen, IDnet etc.
As for TalkTalk LLU, if they were really that bad then they wouldn't have ~ 4 million customers. People will leave an isp in droves if they're not happy...anyone remember Orange 5-6 years ago?0 -
We moved from EE to Talktalk after EE failed to find my property when I moved! Talktalk were in and had me connected within days.
I have since moved again (and taken over my parents line) and again I cannot fault them. We received the modem and Youview box ahead of time. They even knocked some money off our bills!
We found the customer services really good, never lost service and speeds are good.
Maybe its just where we live, but I am a happy customerAiming towards a better future ~ debt free to of course
