Could you put up a notice in a church hall that hosts brownies/guides etc.?
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10
  • Can't do schools - I work full-time as do most of my seniors or they are in school/college themselves.

Church halls might be a good place to poster...I'm gonna be printing a LOT of posters!

2 local dance schools and a few supermarkets have agreed to put posters up for me and (as an aside) we have raised £25 towards equipment through gofundme :)

Thank you again EVERYONE - even if I can't use your idea, it is lovely to have a response :)

What about advertising at gymnastics clubs that don't offer cheerleading?

I can't remember what age group you want to entice but my niece had a gymnastics party for her 6th birthday and loads of parents wanted to sign their daughters up for lessons afterward and the kids loved it. Kids cheerleading parties could be a new weekend business! But I really think they would want the pom poms.

Yep, sadly we can't get a free hall with equipment!

I've tweeted my heart out haha, so maybe will get some replies.

Am at a gymnastics place on Tuesday, so will see if I can leave a poster, and we are cheering a sports game in a few weeks so fingers crossed for interest from there.

Which reminds me - I need to dig out our poms for that. They never get used - as soon as people discover stunts they don't want poms anymore, we only ever use them for occasional events :)

I tried offering both kids and hen parties but pompons and glitter seem to be quite well sewn up by local party organisers sadly.

Are you offering come and try days? The idea of maybe signing up for a term or feeling you will dissapoint if you don't come back can be daunting, but a single session with seniors demonstrating (both their best tricks and stuff beginners will learn soon) and a trial first class might have a much lower bar to attend and get people hooked.

  • I tried that last week and got 3 people - better than none, but with at least 3 dozen posters up and it plastered over FB and Twitter I was a little deflated!

Still, 2 of the 3 have stayed :D

Going to have another open day in a few months when the weather is better and our 2 competitions are done - maybe get a few more then as I think the storm and lashing-down rain might have put people off :)

  • Update!

Firstly, we now have a youth squad through advertising in the playscheme at our community centre, and 2 new seniors...and we are competing next week! Yikes!

Secondly - and not sure if I'm allowed to put this here so mods please delete if not :)

I was told that extra equipment might help us recruit more people, so I set up a fundraising page - if you or anyone you know could help us out pass it on as we are looking for sponsorship and the like!

Well done HBS, glad to see things are moving in the right direction!

Good luck for next week - where are you competing? DD's squad are competing in Nottingham at the end of the month (ICC Nationals I think).

I'll have a nose at your links tomorrow.
