That's the most bizarre charity I've ever heard of!

I hope you gave them a donation if they've given you 2 cakes!

If you haven't already made the sandwiches, I'd give the Asian kids philly sandwiches not philly and chicken roll sandwiches. Muslims only eat Halal chicken and unless you bought it from a halal butcher or the halal section of a supermarket yours won't be (and the mums probably won't trust you even if you did). Hindus and Sikhs (the other two main Asian religions) do eat pork if they are meat eaters but a large number of these religions don't eat meat at all. And obviously any Jewish non pork eaters will only eat kosher chicken which is not the same as halal!

And orthodox Jews won't eat philadelphia (dairy) with meat.

Thinking of charities I am/have been involved with which seek to help those really suffering. Children can survive perfectly well without cake. Providing an outlet for people who like to bake and parents that want cake for a donation which is far below the ingredient cost and calling it charity is a bit far fetched to me!!!

Yes I see where you are coming from and yes children can survive without a Birthday cake but its nice to have one and children can get quite upset at not having one.

To me Charity is the act of voluntary giving, which is what these people who like to bake are doing, the bakers pay for the ingredients themselves any donation is used to keep the groups running and help set up new ones.

I like the idea of a person who may be lonely missing family
being able to give a child a cake.
