    OK

What do the kids normally eat?

If you can HM pizza do that, if not a few shop bought. Do them just before the party and cut into child size pieces that can be eaten from hands.

I like the idea of chicken but I would try and get small drumsticks.

Crisps of tortilla chips - - supermarket basic are fine.

flapjacks and jam tarts are cheap and easy to make as above

Veggie sticks and hummus if you think they will eat if. Or cheese and cherry toms etc in sticks or do a veggie kebab.

I would plate or box the food and give each child one to make sure the higher value/more attractice foods do not get swooped up by some kids plus have spares of nibbles.

Most jellies have pork gelatine in them.

If the kids are Muslim they will only eat halal meat so you would be better off doing veggie only unless you can get halal chicken.

Might be worth asking one of the mums where you can get something wings or drumsticks from an acceptable butcher?

And they go veggie with the rest.

There is a vegan jelly alternative but you would need to make sure the kids and parents knew it was OK in advance. Make up with tinned fruit in plastic tumblers?

Might not help but maybe ask the mom(s) of the special diet ones to bring something because you don't want to get it wrong.

All supermarkets do frozen gateau things for a quid. Add some chicken wings, jelly, fairy cakes, pizzas (tesco trattoria Verdi to the edge toppings are 99p and perfectly fine).

What do you have in the store cupboard in terms of jams, flour, eggs etc.

£30 is MORE than enough for a children's party buffet xxx

In my experience - and it's fairly vast - children like tiny things that they can just pop into their mouths in one go, so titchy little sandwiches, tiny cubes of chicken/cheese etc, little squares of pizza, cherry tomatoes, fairy cakes made in sweet cases with just enough room for a dab of icing and a smartie or chocolate button on top, Choc biscuit cake cut into minute squares. It looks attractive and really cuts down on the waste. I've found that however well brought up the children are there are always bits of sandwiches and half-slices of cake discarded.

    Have fun.

  • I would get a few party packs of food from Iceland, some meat and some veggie and use the rest of the money in a poundshop to get cheap bags of sweets, cakes and crisps. Or the valve stuff from supermarkets would be a good choice too. Stick it all out in little dishes and some paper plates and cultery.

  • You can do a big traybake cheap and cut it up into a good 24 pieces :-)
