Gas & Electricity is now the Energy Board

Hi everyone

We're making some changes to forum boards in preparation for the redesign including changing the title of the Gas & Electricity board.

We may make further changes down the line when the new forum is in Beta but we wanted to let you know now.

Hopefully you will fix this quickly, lumping Gas and Electricity in with LPG, Oil, and other niche fuels is verging on the stupid.

Agreed. A ludicrous decision.
Especially since you haven't changed the name of this board to even mention gas or electricity. Lumping those in under 'other fuels' is just stupid, given that G&E probably attract 10 times the traffic of LPG or oil.

It should not be lumped together with the other fuels. I struggled to find it and people will give up if they have to go through all the other threads that are not about gas or electricity. There are enough posts made to have a Gas and Electricity only board.

Are you suggesting all domestic energy forms wind / solar / LPG / gas / paraffin / biomass pellet etc are all in one forum, if so why ? What is it you hope to achieve by forcing quite individual areas interest to behave as one consolidated non-tribal entity.

- sometimes forum design can have unforeseen consequences
- this current forum area is elegant in design, well defined, easily navigated and requires little effort is to find an area of explicit interest
- unification always leads to aggregation, and mincing unrelated energy types entirely indifferent to each other seems to muddy access and interest for many
- if I or others wanted to see or read posts on LPG Heating Oil, Solid & Other Fuels I would just visit that area
- certainly I for one don't want to wade through or filter totally irrelevant subtribe posts to find what I want

Why what problem do you see as being solved, or blessings secured by your action ?

They aren't, there is a sub-forum for 'LPG, Heating Oil, Solid & Other Fuels', though I have no idea when that appeared.

All that remains for the full exercise to be completed rationally, is for the current 'Energy' board to be renamed 'Gas & Electricity' and the job is done.

It was there all day for me yesterday. I have been wondering what all the outrage from FM's was about! I can see barely any change at my end, apart from the name.
