Porridge is a moneysaver's best friend at breakfast time. Or suppertime, whatever floats your boat.
I recently started a gluten-free diet as a way of managing a long standing bowel condition, and I have to say, it is certainly helping. I was on it for two weeks, then OH made some crsipy stir-fried pork using ordinary flour. I had some of it, and you don't want to know what my guts were like the next morning! That convinced me that I do have a bit of gluten intolerance, so am persevering with the diet. Have just about sorted making gluten-free bread (the sliced loaves are twice the price of ordinary loaves), made pastry for mince pies (yes I know it's not Christmas, but I have some leftover homemade mincemeat to use up), and some rather delish gluten-free chocolate brownies. Trouble is, the resident gannets are hoovering up the mince pies and brownies as fast as I can make them, so I will have to hide them away and make some ordinary ones for them.
On last payday I went to Sainsbugs and bought 2 boxes of GF breakfast cereal, a bag of GF oats, plain and SR GF flour blends and xanthan gum, which is a binder used in GF pastry. So, I can still have my cinnamon and syrup porridge if I want to....oh I am a happy Nargle!
And NSD-wise -- still on 6 as needed motion lotion today, but have got Igor out with the hunting nets so should have more to add to the Cauldron of Doom this week. One life - your life - live it!0 -

Mobile phone D/Debit went out this morning, so not an NSD for me
Grabbed the opportunity to nip out for a couple of bits I needed/wanted, and order another 'going to be very useful over the next few months' want from Amaz0n. Still debating another Amaz0n purchase, but will probably hold off for now.....Cheryl0 -

Eeek to the gluten intolerance Nargle  but at least you seem to have identified what can set you off. I oddly seem to be the opposite to most people, a nice white crusty loaf - no problem at all, however Narins Oat cakes (which I tried as an alternative to sarnies when I started boot camp) .... Well I puffed up like I'd swallowed a puffer fish, and I won't share the rest. Same effect with homemade oatcakes too. Only ones I seem to be able to eat without turning into a human balloon are the ones from Lidl.
Anyway, meanwhile back at the ranch, I'm declaring nsd #6 didn't get out for lunch, weather appealing here in the Shire but thankfully our house is still dry.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Today is #8,I'm pleased to say.
nargle good that the gf diet is helping you.Porridge rocks, you're right!
kerri I had a north-facing interior wall that got mould on it.I read somewhere that a wash solution mixture of water and bleach would stop the mould returning, and it has worked. That's also why I bought the dehumidifier.I use it a lot especially in the colder /wetter months.0 -
Thanks marmite been trying to keep the room aired, it could be worse, just a pain. Will look into a dehumidifier too.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
