And here comes number 6 to join the party!

Being very careful with cash at present, got guests coming to stay next weekend so like to provide nice grub. Thinking about a chilli beef main course with the usual accompaniments follwed by a Key Lime/cheesecakey dessert, that's for Saturday, then a traditional roast dinner with pud and custard Sunday. Lunches can be buffet style, with meats and cheeses and salad bits (although there's talk of going out one of the days) and cakey things to follow. Breakfasts can be fresh fruit, pancakes, bacon, maple syrup, toast and home made jams with plenty of fruit juice and tea/coffee. Maybe porridge done Nargle-style on one day (with cinnamon and golden syrup), or even use up the smoked salmon trimmings in the freezer and do smoked salmon scrambled eggs? Shut up, Nargle, you are confusing yourself now......

Blimey, these NSD's are hard for me to capture this month.

In mid-November I bought myself pair of expensive-to-me boots, £35 at Sainsbury). Now for a while I have thought my feet feel abit damp/cold after wearing them.Sure enough, there was a split in small them. That split has now turned into the sole hanging off and flapping up and down with every step, and socks absolutely saturated in this weather.
So today, bought myself a VERY VERY VERY expensive pair of walking shoes (about £120).I have never spent more than about £15 on shoes in my life (usually basic trainers from supermarket),but this is starting to turn into false economy,so this experiment had better work!!

I have known for a while that I needed to buy a new laptop.Have been looking on and off for a couple of weeks.I figured since I had already spent today, and the rest of the family were visiting grandparents for the day,I would have time to browse, and buy laptop today.I think I have found the one I want, but when the guy said it was too late today for them to set it up and get it running for me,I decided to come back and buy and have it set up tomorrow (gives me more time to check reviews online, confuse myself even further re which laptop to buy).So tomorrow will also be a spendy day.......

    I can feel a F,F,F,F,A,A,A,I,I,I........coming on.....

Other than putting in your WiFi password, there really shouldn't be anything to do to set it up.... a laptop is one of the ultimate 'plug and go' pieces of kit.

That's how I eat my porridge!I make it up with water and a good sprinkle of cinnamon, and then have it with milk and some g.s.I have it for supper though. It doesn't fill me up enough in the morning. One of the advantages of living alone....I can eat what I want when I want.
I had a friend once who asked me if eating porridge in the evening meant I was hyper (and didn't sleep).According to her, horses aren't given oats in the evening for that reason.I didn't like to point out the obvious-ie that I'm NOT a horse!

    You can still do it!

    Your goal:10 nsds
    You have managed :1
    9 left to get
    Days left in Feb:19
So,every second day is a spend day,or if you prefer an nsd.You just need to organise yourself,a bit of forward planning helps. It helps also to ask yourself if a purchase is a must-have,or can it wait into tomorrow!

    Good luck!

PS If you use the F work again,it'll be manky kipper and fuzzy turnip porridge for brekkie for the next week, one of Igor's specialities. You have been warned!

I always make my porridge with milk and water to reheat in the mornings with golden syrup for work to half fill me up. Cereal doesn't fill me up at all, it's like eating fresh air for me!

I would take the boots back to sainsburys and request a refund since they are no gift for purpose. I'd be surprised if they argued as you haven't had them long.

Nargle, what time do want us at yours for that lovely menu? :D

No NSD on fri, had a meal out planned so I stocked up no fruit, baking bits and some other stuff, only to find that the lovely lady who the meal was for paid for us all. Very sweet of her.

I seem to have only declared 2 NSD and my sig says three, not sure when I changed it :O so I'm going to declare today as nsd # 4 assuming yesterday as 3.

Been channelling my inner nigella this weekend, choc chip cookies yesterday, lemon drizzle cake in the oven now. Was going to make lasagne but mince not thawed so that will be tomorrow now. Also been busy with housework this weekend, we have a real problem with black mould on the bedroom window, I rubbed it all back, treated it and painted them last summer but it's all come back again, and seems worse than before. I use a purpose bought spray, anyone got any tips on anything else that works? We do get bad condensation on the bedroom window, I can't leave the door open at night as the cat gets in, and I can keep the windows open if it's windy as the door rattles. I do leave the door open in the day to let the air circulate a bit but it's driving me mad.

  • Well i think I shall invite myself to nargle towers for the weekend, that food sounds delicious.

And marmite I'm glad to hear you're not a horse, that would be weird. :rotfl:

I have been known to have cereal for lunch and tea particularly when I'm being too lazy to cook, however now with baba in tow I need to be setting a good example so have been trying to eat proper meals with him.

Anyway NSD # 5 today. Hubby working away this weekend so little man and I went to my parents for lunch, and stayed most of the day. So no opportunity to spend and had lunch cooked for me too. :D

Was hoping Saturday would be an NSD, but it wasn't. Got my breadmaker out for the first time in ages on Friday, and the result was a catastrophe... which could only be put down to the flour being more than a tad out of date. So I picked up some fresh (results were fine), and decided to pick up some tortillas to make enchilladas for tea (had everything else in the house). While I was at it I picked up a garlic baguette to go with the bolognese I had planned for tonight (again had everything else I needed in the house). Also nipped to Mr M for a second lot of the tuna.

    But today was NSD #4

leaving my purse at home when i go to work is a winning stratedgy lol

i am determined to show restraint on my days off next week as there is nothing i neeed to buy currently on nsd 3 in a row which i manage each week with ease so i am venturing into unknown NSd territory tomorrow:)
