Edging with big rocks goes through planning permission very easily here.

This is not an answer to the OP's question.

He asked how to stop people parking on his land.
And nor would the OP's own suggestion - employing a PPC. The last thing a PPC would want to do is to stop vehicles coming on to the land. It would bring a halt to their money-making.

That said, such actions - whether that is contacting the police or employing a PPC probably have a deterrent value which one should not dismiss.

Your suggestion is how to get the vehicle removed after it's parked. The police wont remove the vehicle anyway, unless it's causing an obstruction.
Please see s.99 Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. There is no requirement for a vehicle left on "other land" to be causing an obstruction. That said, it is entirely academic as police policy is, generally, that private landowners must take their own action to secure their interests as you point out below.

Try it and see what happens - the police will tell you to ask the driver to move his vehicle - then if he doesn't it becomes trespass and you can sue for damages in a civil court.
Although you might want to issue proceedings to recover the land first and then do so for the trespass.

That doesn't stop the next driver from parking.
However, as said above, there is always a deterrent value to taking action.

The OP needs to use bollards and or build a fence and gate - after obtaining any necessary planning permission.
Agreed. Even the most cursory research on this board will amply demonstrate that employing a PPC is absolutely not a cure for unwanted visitors.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

Simple, fence the land, get a gate, get a hut and make some cash from the parking. Don't paint silly lines.Don't get a ppc.

If you don't want to make money, forget the hut and get a padlock.

I would like to just hijack this thread as I have a query just like the above! :)

Basically, I own a house and am having difficulty stopping people walking in. Why do I want to stop them? should it matter really if the house belongs to me?

Long story short.....how do I stop them without enlisting the help of a bouncer?

Be interested to know because I want this to be as pain free as possible for all concerned.

Thanks in advance for any advice...

Are these people entering your house or just taking a walk around your garden?

10ft high barbed wire fence should do the trick.
Or if people were decent, just a small sign saying private property would sufffice.
