Half the guests never twigged, those of us that did know thought it was a great idea, Aunt enjoyed the whole day from start to finish without having sore feet and even great great aunty Ethel (who was about 90 at the time) thought it was the best idea ever and was determined she was going to get a pair for herself!
The dress covered the boots entirely so in almost all the official wedding photos you have no idea what footwear she has on but there is one official photo deliberately taken with skirt hitched slightly to show off the boots.
my wedding footwear is purple (my theme) Dr Martens that will be laced with ivory ribbon. i will be wearing a full lenth wedding dress and hope that as i walk down the aisle the tips of the boots will poke out and get people wondering.
my mum put the idea in my head - but has warned me on pain of death of telling my dad she suggested it. my dress maker loved the idea, she is a family friend and was a little surprised i had not gone down a less traditional route with my dress.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -

I'm starting off with these:
And finishing with these:
Both pairs are by Melissa and are a jelly type which is super comfy.
Ooh I love the flats! Can't see the other pic. I originally bought a white pair of Mel heels with a heart for my wedding, but had to accept I can't wear heels. I literally own one pair of wedge style heels from Clarks that I can tolerate, but that's it.
I have these now:

Gloriously comfortable Dr Martens with a bit of a heel. I'll be buying some ribbon laces to match the colour of my dress.0 -
