What about a pair of converse like this? It'd be pretty easy to do yourself with just some basic sewing skills and just makes them that bit more special0 -
It's only about £50 to design your own converse.0

These were my shoes for the ceremony and first dance type stuff

The wider toe meant my toes weren't squished, and they had padding on top of the toes too - were comfy enough for the time I was wearing them.
Otherwise - a style like converse. Dr Martens would be cool but can be a bit clumpy (mind you - they do a fair size range of more feminine shoes now).0 -
Bringing this thread back to the fore, because I've just found this tutorial: http://www.733blog.com/2014/03/diy-dip-dyed-glitter-shoes.html?showComment=1395144767134#c2364911060524842720 if you were to do it without the dying part, (just the modgepodge/glitter/water bit) then you'd end up with glittery white trainers!Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A0

I have the same dilemma!
Really do not want to heels/stilettos at my wedding abroad...even for just a few hours would be annoying.
Am going to be wearing a full length dress...considering wearing some wedge flip flops! Currently looking for some silver or embellished ones.
Have no problem with wearing (posh) flip flops with my wedding dress.
Am not that tall so a wedge would give some extra inches but would let me enjoy the day without worrying about my poor feet!0 -
My aunt had the full white meringue dress accessorised with her favourite and comfy black Dr. Martens boots - this was about 25 years ago and pretty unheard of not to wear little white shoes back then.
Half the guests never twigged, those of us that did know thought it was a great idea, Aunt enjoyed the whole day from start to finish without having sore feet and even great great aunty Ethel (who was about 90 at the time) thought it was the best idea ever and was determined she was going to get a pair for herself!
The dress covered the boots entirely so in almost all the official wedding photos you have no idea what footwear she has on but there is one official photo deliberately taken with skirt hitched slightly to show off the boots.0 -
We are ordering our personalised Converse this week - OH and I will both wear a pair for the ceremony and reception. I can't wait for them to arrive.0

I too also live in trainers and slipper and hate wearing heels, I have got some kitten heeled shoes which I've been breaking in so hopefully they'll do
