    Aaaaand......we're back in the room!!

    Good morning Divas xxxxx

Slightly calmer now....so will try and catch up with you!

How we all doing? Updates please xx

Rather than write a Samuel Pepys wannabe of what I've been up to (anyone read his diaries? Anyone? Anyone read War and Peace? Finnegans Wake? Anyone? No.) I thought I'd go.... categorical on yo !!!.

    Start with positive stuff:

Work - work is really good. The team I work with are good people as are the young people who come to our sessions and activities. Some of them have A LOT of issues, stuff going on that isn't great, but there they are...turning up every week, getting on with it.
**Quick aside - who are the young people who inspire you, Divas?**
Only prob with work is the crap wages and I need to tackle this. Extra hours? Extra job? Lottery win? Discover I'm a D'Urberville?

Uni - going fab too! Presentation on Monday went well and suddenly opened up massive debate re: sexism within the creative arts. Really got me going! In my own way I am proactively Doing Something to tackle this - it's all in development so bear with me and I'll let you know!

Right. Will post this in case it goes missing then carry on....

  • Good it worked!

    Right, next up:

Friends - not seen some as much as I would've liked but going out with my oldest girlie gang tomorrow as one of us is birthdaying so am looking forward to that.
Had impromptu night at the pub last Saturday with some workmates which was great but...oh god. I was wasted. Was so ill the next day. Also tearful, anxious, guilty at spending money I don't have, embarrassed. Sick of self. Angry as wasting whole day of life feeling like that. Never want to feel that way again.

Physically - swimming. Need to go bit more. Also, can only do breaststroke. All women in my pool gamely cheerfully doing the breaststroke. When does Breaststroke Time hit?! None of us front crawling. Why is this?!
I'm not great at it - my arms seem to be coming in when my legs have already finished. One leg also better than the other, it seems.
I swim like a crab. I swim like a drunk crab. I was a drunk crab last Saturday. God.

Financially - am so poor. Struggling to stretch wages at the mo. Realistically, I need another job. So.

Love, Sex, Romance - sorry, what? Whats that again? Hmmm. I'm sure the concepts ring a bell, but...ooh no it's gone again. Hang on! I can happily daydream about Idris Elba A LOT if that helps? Also, did you know I was thinking of taking up knitting for something to do? (Christ).

    Last bit.....

    Not that great now...

Family - ah its all crap. My poor parents. Remember my lovely uncle died - his equally lovely wife has died too. She'd been very ill and faded away after her hubby passed away. Both of them were in their early 70s which is...young.
I really feel for their kids who are in their late 30s to early 50s. And of course it brings all these issues closer to home.
My dad has also got some other pressures on him at the mo and is losing sleep. Hopefully this will be resolved one way or another this coming week.
My niece is also very fragile at the mo and her brother, my nephew is waiting for test results. This is my sisters family, so we're all onboard and anxious. Siiiiiiiiiigh.

Spiritually/Emotionally - well. Ah I can't lie to the Divas, can I? I'm just really....flat at the mo. Lots going on, so I'm OK with saying its probably natural to feel like this. Would just appreciate some light at the end of the tunnel I guess.
Old skool dance sums it up at the mo - please take up your glo sticks and whistles, Divas and sing with me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_wdAD2dlDw

    But.

    Heart of hearts.

Things have absolutely been so much worse for me in the past and I'm still here. I can accept things are a bit rubbish at the mo, with some really good stuff thrown in. And getting it off my chest helps, it really does.

Magsnoodle - did you get your assignment done?!

Girlatplay - LOVED the procrastination articles, thanks for that! Really helped and taken onboard the 'brick by brick' approach.

Everyone - thanks for all your lovely comments this past week or so.

Love you lovely Divas :) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Rather than parts 1-3. Why not call them chapters and provide Bridget jones with some competition :)

Hi Skinty, you have had a tremendous drain on your emotional reserves over the last few weeks, with the death of two people that you loved dearly and a major presentation to deliver.

You have been there for your family and aced the presentation, so in my eyes you are a super star! If you needed a wee/huge blow out to release some of that built up tension then so be it, you are not going to make a habit of it, that is when things can get tricky.

The show must go on xx

    Hi Skinty....

Yes assignment done and just have to prepare for 2 hour closed book marketing exam tomorrow. HAve met with the group a couple of times now to discuss the case study so feel reasonably prepared.

Wow thats a load of stuff going on at the minute. I have kind of given up going out with some of my friends whose nights out revolve around getting "locked" at weekends. And just like you it is because it is TOOOOOO expensive and I hate feeling so rubbish for days after - definitely takes longer to recover over 40 in my case.....

Sending you hugs as I am not sure what other help I can be at the minute but we are all thinking of you on here.
