It can be difficult to chill out when your safety is threatened by lazy, indifferent, incompetence.

There was no danger at any point in that video until the cyclist decided to yell completely ott abuse at the passenger in the car.

It was a very minor traffic violation that was escalated beyond all reason by the cyclist with a chip on his shoulder.

The fact he got his comeuppance for this is absolutely hilarious, yes. I'd expect the same to happen to me if I called a stranger in the street what he called the occupants of the car.

    Is it?
Would you call forcing your way past minor?
He had already decided to overtake those cyclists from his road positioning

He encroached on the cyclist bay so he could get away from the lights in front of the cyclists, there was no 'forcing' involved so let's not start exaggerating things to prove a point eh?

There's no denying the fact the driver shouldn't have done it, but it was an incredibly minor transgression that never posed any tangible threat to anyone. Unfortunately these non events happen on the roads every day, yet most people don't feel the need to escalate them to the level of that cyclist.

The cyclists reaction was the only thing that turned the incident from an innocuous transgression to full blown conflict. It was obscene, and would be the equivalent of me chasing someone down and verbally abusing them for cutting me up at a roundabout.

Get away? To the next set of lights you mean.
The driver evidently had time to get out of the car though? So no hurry.
its amazing how many drivers in a hirry have time to argue when it suits.
I think you need to relook at the video and watch the Audi. He was legally behind the line.
Cyclists were legally entering the ASL from the left.
He forced his way into the ASL. The fact you see nothing wrong with this demonstrates the warped logic
THe ASL is there to aid cyclists in a safe transition through the junction.
What other rules can i ignore in the car when it suits me?
As I said the cyclist was a !!!! in his behaviour. However only one person instigated it.

Friend of mine had a car door opened into him in a situation like that, middle aged woman, deliberate act, got out and start shouting abuse at him about "queue jumping". Police were called, she carried on with the "queue jumping" argument, she got into A LOT of trouble.

So your friend was filtering between a car and large vehicles on the otherside before settling on the central white line between a small works van and an oncoming bus? Then wonders why people get annoyed.

Oh and don't get me started on why bikes think it's okay to tailgate!

If we took all the bikes off the road and crushed them we could reduce pollution at a stroke.

How's this relevant? We both agree the driver shouldn't have encroached, his reason for doing so or its ultimate futility make no difference to the ott and entirely disproportionate reaction given by the cyclist.

What a ridiculous comment - whether he was in a hurry or not makes no difference to his tolerance of being verbally assaulted in the street.

I think you need to check the dictionary for the definition of 'forced'. Nobody was forced to move, pushed, barged or otherwise affected by the drivers maneuver. He slowly drove into an area he shouldn't have, next to some cyclists. It was, at worst, an annoying move, but one that posed no danger to anyone and was certainly no more serious than the thousands of inconsiderate and annoying incidents that happen at roundabouts/ junctions/merge points up and down the country every day.

Funny how 99.9999% of people manage not to react like the cyclist.
As I said the cyclist was a !!!! in his behaviour. However only one person instigated it.

Would you say the cyclists behavior was proportionate to the incident be felt aggrieved about?

No one has defended the driver for what he did. However, the cyclists reaction to the kind of minor irritation that all of us encounter from time to time on the roads was ridiculous, and bred conflict out of nothing.
