Call From US not Registering

Hi All,

I'm with 02 and I'm trying to get a call from the USA, however it's not registering on my phone. They seem to need to put 01144 before my number and can't use just +44, is there anyway around this issue?

I receive calls on my own US number that I got for free from Callcentric. I have a third party SIP client on my iPhone so that whenever I receive a call, I can answer it. You could do the same with Pinger which provides both the number and the app all in one. Either way, it costs you nothing to receive and costs the caller a national US call rather than an international call to the UK.

011-44 would be necessary from a landline, whereas +44 should be fine from a mobile.

I've spoken to 02 and they have said there is nothing they can do and that the problem isn't with them.

I have a Nexus 4, what do I need to do to receive calls?

The US caller is unable to get through to me but 02 have said there are no issues.

If other callers can get through then the problem is obviously on the US side.

BTW, what do you mean by 'not registering'?

Not registering in that nothing appears on my phone.

It wouldn't if they are unable to ring you.

When the US caller rings you does the caller get a recorded message or anything ?
It's not just about the money

    Some obvious questions:
    1. What type of line is the caller calling from (e.g. home, work, mobile)?
    2. Are international calls blocked from the caller's line?
    3. Can the caller get through to other UK numbers, e.g. fixed lines?
    4. Can you receive calls from other US-based callers?
    5. What else have you tried or asked in order to narrow down where the problem lies?

    They say they can.

Home or work? Many workplaces will block international calls.

In this case the answer to question 3 would have been NO (and YES to 2).
