So you are saying that if a customer cancels a DD with their bank, (whether or not the contract between the customer and the company being paid has been cancelled) the company is ALLOWED to create a NEW DD mandate and take out funds from the customer's account without the customer permission at the date of the current request?
Not "different amounts on an existing DD mandate" but a whole NEW DD mandate WITHOUT the customer's permission? Seriously? I have no idea what planet you are living on, but hopefully they don't have banks on it.
As to the planet I live on - it's not one on which people shout at each other in upper case on internet forums. So I am pleased to say it doesn't appear to your planet.0 -

See my earlier post #280 -
I always understood a DD was an authorisation TO a supplier to request money FROM your bank account and it rolled on until you cancelled it by telling the supplier to stop requesting the money.
A standing order, on the other hand was an authorisation FROM you TO your bank to pay out money to a supplier. It had to be cancelled by you telling the bank to stop paying it out.
I pay my home contents insurance by monthly DD. Annually the insurers send saying me a letter saying - It's Renewal time: if you want to cancel this please contact us and tell us. If we do not hear from you by xxxxxx we will assume you want to carry on and roll it forward automatically to the next year. Shortly after that, if I have not cancelled, I get the policy documents for the next year with a covering note saying thank you for renewing for another year.0 -

Yes, if you don't cancel the policy that doesn't get you out of paying it.
However, if you cancel a direct debit, the insurer doesn't have the right to set up a new one without authorisation.DEBT FREE!
