It's normally best to consult the handbook to see what alternative tyre/wheel sizes are approved for that vehicle. That will be tricky as you haven't bought the car yet.

I'd recommend that you ask the question on a dedicated Nissan Qashqai forum.
  • I found what I think are the only dedicated Qashqai and Nissan forums and have posted the question. The only activity on both sites are from web-bots spamming the sites. Doesn't seem to be any actual people responding.
  • They live in Mossley and they get quite heavy snow but as well as that I'm considering getting a caravan so just thought 4WD was a good idea when dragging something across a field.

Dont think Mossley has ever been snowed in for weeks lol

I'm sure that there is one because I went on it when my mum was buying a Qashqai. It was a wheel related question too. Spare wheel... or lack of.

Edit: I think this was it... http://forum.qashqaiclub.co.uk/

It is common for winter tyres to be based around a slightly narrower and smaller wheel/tyre.

Sometimes theses other sizes will be in the handbook
  • I'll try that one. I posted my question here: http://www.qashqaiownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic256_post679.html#679

That's not a great site though.

You want 'winter compound tyres' - not 'off road' or 'AT' tyres.

Blackcircles and mytyres are good sites for price comparison and have 'show me winter tyres only' options.

Can people stop belittling the OP for his choice of car please? Just because YOU don't see the value in the choice he is making, does not mean his choice has no value.

I'm sure he is quite capable of making informed decisions as an adult, and a Quashquai is a perfectly capable and reasonable car in 2WD or 4WD form.

The world would be a !!!!ing dull place if we all drove micras - or the 'least car we need' for that matter. Not to mention that their towing capability is somewhat limited.
  • I went on Blackcircles but because they don't do winter versions of the same size low profile tyres that come with the car (because they wouldn't be suitable, etc, etc) I'm just at a loss to know which ones would work. I guess the best thing would be to phone them, which I'll do once I decide whether or not to get the car now for Westway Nissan and pay the premium or wait until April for the online PCP/finance company to provide the vehicle, at which point I wouldn't need the tyres until next winter.

It just annoys me that Westway Nissan want £248 per month from me whereas I've found exactly the same deal for £203 per month. Westway say they're the largest Nissan direct whatever but can't get anywhere near £203. Even the £248 price was a "friends and family" deal with extra money knocked off if I buy before end of January. They wanted a LOT more beforehand so I feel really sorry for people that buy from a dealership at full price.

........plus the 19" tyres do look great.

The won't be looking so good when you have cracked the alloys and Nissan want £600 to replace one. Wheels of this size are just bling on a car such as this and design over substance.
  • I've never had bling. My list of recent cars that I remember:

    Polo - Fiesta - Neon - Fiesta - 406 Estate - Note

I should be ashamed of some of those I know (the Neon was an auto that stalled - that was such a terrible car).
