Dog Insurance

Who do you use to insure your dogs? Just got my renewal in from Axa and it has went up over £2 per month. More Than, Tesco and Animal Friends is just as dear.

AXA have decided to withdraw from the market and some customers have seen huge increases at renewal. £2 sounds reasonable to me, but I suppose it depends how much your policy is to start with. My two with AXA increased just under £5 each last year but as the policies are around £60 together it didn't seem too high an increase - I checked and couldn't find any equivalant level of cover elsewhere as cheap
  • M&S. Excellent and quick at paying out, and good cover, but they are quite expensive compared to some others.

I'm with M&S too. They do pay out quickly but I wouldn't say they are more expensive than others.

    My dog's nearly 6 and I pay £30 a month. Does that seem expensive? He's a whippet/labrador first cross.
  • Maybe a better way to put it would be that they raise their premiums more than some following a claim. My two 7 year old dogs are £75 and £35 a month respectively. The one who is £75 a month started out at £12.99! He has had treatment comparable to my friend's dog of the same age, and her premiums (I think with Pet Plan) have not increased nearly as much.

My lurcher is with M&S and when we adopted him 7 years ago, his monthly premium was £9.40. He's about to turn 10 and the renewal quote has just come through at £125 a month  an increase of £41 a month from last year.

I pay £34 for my 6 month entire boy puppy and £35 for my 3.5 yr old spayed girl. Both Alaskan Malamutes. Each year I have to shop around as providers drop out of the market - this was 12 months for the price of 9 and TCB (not that they have paid out yet).

I am with Argos on their Gold plan. I paid £111.41 for the year. She was 7 months old when we insured her, chipped but not spayed. She is a Patterdale X

Havent had to claim yet but I have heard good things about Argos hence why we decided to go with them.

Went through Quidco who I think were offering around £40 cashback as well. It has tracked but not paid out yet as I think you have to have the policy for a certain amount of time before they do, so if that all goes through then it will have cost me around £70 for the year which will be excellent!

I too just took out an Argos policy on our new Chihuahua cross puppy.
    £94 for the year.
Argos are currently giving a £20 voucher on all policies.
Policy took out through TCB which was offering £42 cash back last week for a few days (think its down to £37 now).

So an annual policy for £32, or a grand total of £2.67 per month.
If only the policy will stay that cheap through the life of the dog.. :-)

(BTW, the policy has not tracked on TCB yet :-( Site says that 'usually' tracks within a couple of days, but may take several weeks :-( Not sure how long I need to wait till I chase it up with TCB....)
