As long as I can see my cash, move my money and occasionally open a new account I'm more than happy with what gets put in front of me.
Do we sometimes choose to overcomplicate our lives by being unhappy with layout, colour and niche functionality?
I think that a good banking app is extremely important. When you work away a lot it is really handy to be able to access your money on the move. If my kids need money it can be done in an instant. I only access my account through the website when I need to cancel a standing order or direct debit.Money is a wise mans religion0 -
Thanks for deleting the bit of my post where I go on to explain that basic functionality is my priority, thus completely misrepresenting what I typed.baby_frogmella wrote: »Do you carry your desktop or laptop pc with you 24 hrs a day? I don't but like many my smartphone is with me 24 hrs a day.
EDIT: That said, maybe I'm guilty of something and should have typed "I'm not sure why the quality of apps is that important" ... meh, I take it back!
I'd guess they're doing a "poll tax" test with Scotland before rolling it out to their other brands then.whilst BoS now have a dedicated app, Halifax and Lloyds still have the horrible mobile version of their desktop banking website site0 -
I can't imagine why one may need mobile banking 24/7. Personally I've never needed this and am happy to do all banking during the hours when I am at home.baby_frogmella wrote: »Do you carry your desktop or laptop pc with you 24 hrs a day? I don't but like many my smartphone is with me 24 hrs a day.
ETA: for me it's normally about once a week rather than several times a day.0 -

I am looking for a bank with good service .... I know I know sounds impossible in this day and age but I'm done with Santander ! I also am a no no with HSBC as I know they mainly are concerned with business people instead of personal accounts .
Has anyone had fab or great service from a bank ?
I am having a lot of hassle with HSBC at the moment 7 years ago they closed my account down with no warning yet today after all that i keep getting letters about accounts they closed down and i kindly asked them to "Go forth an do one" in a subtle way and remove my details from the system which they keep telling me computer says no.
How hard is it for a bank to realise that if a bank account is finished...done....why should they be sending me snail mail over a account years ago so anyhow avoid HSBC there T*ssers IMHO!
would recommend First direct or Lloyd Tsb has been recently good for me over the few years but i get great service from Nationwide and Cheshire branches of Cheshire building society in there when i go over my Isa i always get a nice cuppa tea and spoke to like a human being. which helps!"MSE Money saving challenges..8/12/13 3,500 saved so far :j" p.s if i been helpfully please leave me a thank you but seek official advice at all times from a pro0 -
I'm with Barclays and happy with them - customer service, online banking, the mobile app, etc. I have the Current Acct Plus they no longer sell which IS a great product in my opinion :-)
Tried First Direct and Halifax for a while, but went back to Barclays and intend to stay, so that I can also benefit from loyalty offers for mortgages.0 -

It is much more about convenience than actually needing to access your account several times a day.
I probably use my banking less than once a week but there are times when I'm working overseas that I need to and simply knowing they are going to be there irrespective of timezone differences etc is convenient. Back in the pre-internet banking/ 24hr call centre days it was a case of setting the alarm for 3am to catch them when they first open at 8am if I'd forgotten to do something or an emergency had arisen0 -
Although a recent corporate disaster, I've never had a problem with Co-op bank. The website is basic but reliable and effective and on the few occasions when I've phoned them the service has been good. Can't comment on the app, though.WelshKitty wrote: »Hi all ,

For me Lloyds are best. They gave me a generous overdraft limit of £10k for the odd emergency and £15k credit limit on their Avios card.
Also rarely have an issue with their website and can do most of my banking online without needing to speak to them.
They do not bother me and I return the compliment not bothering them.
I have an account with Cahoot and since my account was credited with £50,000 by a fraudster I only use them on the odd occasion.0 -

That account is value for money in anyone's language. I suspect that someone high up realised that account is too generous with all of those benefits. I too was with Barclays in the first instance and moved around for various reasons. I am now back with Barclays and plan to stay. Barclays are without a doubt The most innovative bank I have ever come dealt with. All the best.Money is a wise mans religion0 -
Full on line statements are up to the minute unlike with Nationwide. They also offer text alerts and much more.
Nationwide online statements are real-time.
Plus pretty much every bank offers text alerts.baby_frogmella wrote: »Errrmmm no.... whilst BoS now have a dedicated app, Halifax and Lloyds still have the horrible mobile version of their desktop banking website site
The existing Halifax app won't automatically update to the new BoS version. If you want to have the new app, you need to search for 'Bank of Scotland' on your app store, then set it up with your Halifax login details.
It's a good app, certainly better than First Direct's.0
