Good service with a bank ? Looking for a new one

Hi all ,
I am looking for a bank with good service .... I know I know sounds impossible in this day and age but I'm done with Santander ! I also am a no no with HSBC as I know they mainly are concerned with business people instead of personal accounts .

Has anyone had fab or great service from a bank ?

I've always experienced excellent service from First Direct, although the next few posts will probably be by people trying to put you of them at all costs.

I gather a few people have been having a few troubles recently.

It's worth saying what sort of 'service' you are after and what you aren't happy with at Santander.

BTW, Santander is apparently one of the best:

    Thanks for replies .

Santander has continued to have errors which have been blamed by human error , tech error . Direct debits cancelled such as we changed from British gas to another company so cancelled the DD then BT got cancelled , we thought it was strange and they said sorry and it was an error then every time anything with British showed on account it was cancelled , highlighted as fraud and meant endless calls and branch meetings.
Also when speaking about another problem I was through to the complaint team and this was at 3pm and I mentioned would it be easier for something to be dealt with in branch , the girl informed me no it wouldn't she would deal with it but she finished at 4pm so don't expect her to stay behind ? I stated I never mentioned anything about staying behind and her response was some customers actually expect that don't they know I have a life !
That's just a few things from the service I have had lol

Another vote for first direct. I have accounts with Santander, first direct and NatWest. Of the three, in my experience, first direct have delivered by far the best customer service. In my view their call centre staff seem to be a bit more informed than with other banks and so you get passed around different bits of the call centre less and get an answer quicker.

If it's not too personal a question, what have you had to phone any of your banks for (once the accounts are up and running)? At the moment I have current accounts with...

    Halifax (x4)
    BoS (x3)
    Lloyds (x3)
    Nationwide (x4)
    Santander
    Yorkshire Bank
    HSBC
    NatWest

...and genuinely can't remember the last time I had to call any of them.

Personally for me I call as I have health issues in which I put my partner on the phone normally as depending on whether I am having a good or bad day dealing with certain things I need to speak to a person . Otherwise I live by mobile apps

Stop using a phone and use online banking instead. You'll be the only one to blame for a human error if it happens. You don't need to phone a bank to cancel a DD.

me too. Touch wood I've never had a problem that needed me to call them, so I've not really tested their cust service but I'm happy with their on-line banking.
