Good service with a bank ? Looking for a new one

The existing Halifax app won't automatically update to the new BoS version. If you want to have the new app, you need to search for 'Bank of Scotland' on your app store, then set it up with your Halifax login details.
It's a good app, certainly better than First Direct's.
Sorry, but my Halifax credit card login does NOT work in the BoS app. Anyway why are Halifax and Lloyds being so lazy and not releasing a dedicated app? Yes yes i know Halifax/BoS/Lloyds are all part of the same group, but you wouldn't expect to receive a BoS branded card when applying for a Halifax credit card so why can't Halifax release their own app?0

I have banked with First Direct for 18 years and I have had exemplary service. I can't remember ever being anything other than impressed by them when I contact them. I wish I could say the same about the energy, insurance, and TV media companies that I have had the displeasure of dealing with. I use HSBC for business banking and they have been ok.0

That's just going to create more problems for any bank which takes security even remotely seriously.DEBT FREE!

For me personally, although the log on process for the new bos app is ten times faster, the credit card info is carp. January's transactions are not showing on recent transactions and the available credit shows as n/a. Also the link that would take you to the desktop site was handy but is no longer there. It just feels like they've rushed the app.0

Because they want to make sure the BOS one works first is my guess.baby_frogmella wrote: »Anyway why are Halifax and Lloyds being so lazy and not releasing a dedicated app?0

The bos app is definately not all there yet. They should have held back on release until the credit card information was fully functional. It's a bit of a bug bear with me at the moment.0

 Nationwide (x4)
 Santander
 Yorkshire Bank
 HSBC
 NatWest

In response to your question, a range of issues, some of which I accept could have been resolved on the internet. These have been things like requesting a new debit card, setting up new savings accounts, querying when changes would apply to my account.
The latter refers to NatWest and changing the type of account I held. They were seemingly unable to tell me when the change would come into effect, didn't cause me any financial loss but didn't fill me with confidence that the people at the other end of the phone knew what was going on. Just my experiences, appreciate it's a small sample size and others may have different views.0

Well good for you. One can cancel a DD or SO on the phone just as easily. People have been doing that for decades and survived intact.I think that a good banking app is extremely important. When you work away a lot it is really handy to be able to access your money on the move. If my kids need money it can be done in an instant. I only access my account through the website when I need to cancel a standing order or direct debit.
Another thumbs up for Nationwide FlexAccount. No bank charges to pay unless you go into unauthorised overdraft.or past your O/D limit. They have a good website and D/Ds, S/Os and often used payee accounts can be easily set up. Don't know what their mobile app is like but never use those anyway..Usually their customer service is very good despite the odd problem I've had with them, but it's always been sorted quickly.0

I've banked with nearly every high street bank (and First Direct) and I recommend Barclays.
Their iPhone/iPad app are the best out of them all IMO (can do extra things like cancel cards, call Barclays using inclusive minutes without pressing 1, 2 or 3, it just puts you straight through to a human with no security questions asked).
Their internet banking lets you do nearly everything you'd want. They have lots of branches and lots of machines in branch.
First Direct were okay, but they've fallen behind in the times. Their internet banking is quite old and basic, their app is simply a mobile website packaged as an app and it's actually quicker to call Barclays than FD these days. Also, FD don't have a free number that's included in mobile minutes or landline allowance (only one for overseas).
NatWest have a good app, have found their customer service to be great, but their overall systems are old as well (no instant overdrafts etc like Barclays). 0 0

Who need to log into their bank account umpteen times a day?
I might check my back account in the morning, then maybe in the evening. I can't really see why you'd need to carry a desktop pc around then to check it even more!0
