Cheers Bexster.
So as soon as I get a chance, another £1k off.
I can see how folk get addicted, not me though, I can quit when I want - I'm not addicted, I'm not. Just one more hit!!Mortgage: 01/02/14 - £108k

Hi Lucky
Thanks for your post.
Yeah feels such an achievement to cross the threshold.
I don't regret borrowing more to add the extension - but I longingly think of where we would be if we hadn't borrowed the £20k.Mortgage: 01/02/14 - £108k

Hi Earthgirl
I've had a quick read of your diary, and think we could be quite close.
Not had a chance to phone and OP. Hopefully this week. The frustration is every time I don't it's costing me £7 per day interest.

Hi all
Still very limited with time, and not got hold of Virgin to make the £1000 OP.
Little FLC has discovered stairs, I have developed eyes in the back of my head!
We have a largish back garden, 45 6ft panels that need painting. After finding someone who wanted to do it, he arrived - after three no-shows, did 20 mins and disappeared due to a "family emergency" and is going to cyprus for two weeks - basically, doesn't want the job!
Why do people not want the work? I've been searching for a few months trying to find a reliable person to do this and cannot find ANYONE.
So, plan B - I'm going to do it myself, a few hours before work, and hopefully with decent scottish weather, a few hours at night! - And use the cash I've saved as an OP.
Rant over - hope everyone is good in forum-land.

I agree, people don't seem to want to work. I thought people were struggling for money, clearly not this guy if he can afford to go to Cyprus for a fortnight instead of work! Doing it yourself will mean a better quality job done, and cash in your pocket. Good luck with your mini mountaineer!

Thanks for your comments Bexster
I cannot believe some folk wouldnt want the work, however its a couple of hundred pounds closer to my target
So today I got up at 5:30am and did 3 hours painting before work.
Still got 40 panels to do!
Also rang VirginMoney (finally) and made my OP and got the details to do it online from now on!
Productive day so far, now for work.Mortgage: 01/02/14 - £108k

Well after plenty of very early mornings, and a very sore back, the majority of the fence painting is DONE
Mortgage balance is sitting at £98,700 - next months DD should (hopefully) see us in the £97k club.
Seems a long long way off to be MF - daunting and exciting, trying to remain focused on the job at hand.Mortgage: 01/02/14 - £108k

Morning! Just wanted you to know I read your whole thread last night and I think you're doing really well so don't be hard on yourself!
We are in a similar situation, trying to be mortgage free by 50 and with a 2 year old and me being the higher earner but working part time, it's not happening as fast as I'd like.
I found it useful and motivating to put aside any money I'd made or saved by being mse and put that to the mortgage. It was in the budget so no hardship to get it. Such as quidco, cash back credit card (do all monthly spends and clear off monthly), vouchers- bank any savings made, any free money basically!
I know we can save a lot on our food spend so im looking for ways to eat the same for less- stocking up on offers and freezing reduced meat.
Keep going, it's the small things that keep you motivated and keep your goal in mindSlow progress is better than no progress.
