  • Hi All
Well the plan was to use £1000 of savings to OP until the lump sum comes in next week - I've worked out it will be approx £4100 after tax. £1000 to top up my savings and the rest put away.

That was until the winds blew and damaged our fence and the thermostat seems broken too. The house is set at 14 degrees, but the house is still like a sauna. So plumber and landscaper coming around to assess the damage.

Still hoping for an OP, just not as much as I wanted.

Ho hum, these things happen on life's rich pageant.#

Oh dear, hope the bills are not too bad :(. I lost a few panels but luckily my neighbour does it for a living so fixed today for pretty bargainous price.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

    £160 for the damaged trees
    £120 for the fence
Cannot find a reliable plumber anywhere since we moved up here.
Little FLC full of cold and struggling to breathe.
We have thermostat turned right down and its roasting!
All seems to have happened at once.
Still hoping to get £500 op - I hope to pay at least the interest which your tl fab tells me is £7 per day each month, originally I was going to op £220 per month to cover it - but figure a bigger lump would help later on.

  • Morning All
Feeling more positive after last night.
Little FLC slept through the night with her awful cold
Meaning Mr & Mrs FLC had a good sleep
Plumber coming around today to look at the heating, found him on RatedPeople - quite nervous as some "tradesmen" found on there have been a little unreliable, and some were dangerous - trying to fix an electric shower with fairy liquid???
And at least we have the money to pay him/her - ok so the OP wont be £1000 this month, its still, as I read and loved "tiny steps to mortgage freedom.
Anything less than the current 16 years is great. Means we will be MF with a 16yr old and both being 56. Ideally we would love to be 50 and MF, but neither want to sacrifice our bundle of joy treats, or miss out on her growing up to do this.
    Onwards and upwards!

  • Update.
Guy arrived and charged £45 for fixing heating, should be happy with that - I wasn't there, but apparently he just put the dial back on correctly and charged a call out fee. The problems with me just not being handy, I suppose.
So just fence fixing and tree pruning left on list of expenses.
    Long month looms.

  • So here we are again
    I have a £1200 OP to make.
Does it make a difference doing large OP or smaller ones more regularly?
Other than that, little flc is keeping me on my toes which keeps me too busy to make OP.
Where did all my spare time go? Answers on a postcard....

I'm not sure what difference it makes flc but I like big op's as they feel like an achievement but as I can only make little ones then that's what I do. They do add up nicely over the year/s but I feel like we're swimming in treacle sometimes.

Spare time....? I have no idea what that is unless I prebook it?

  • Well some more good news!!
Our company is giving us a small bonus, £660 gross, or if we wait two years we can have it tax free.
I'm taking it at the earliest opportunity - June's pay, OH is hanging on.
AN unexpected OP in June then, happy days.
Weeks are still flying in. Little FLC 1yr old in 6 weeks!!

  • Well, another update
I finally managed to get online and check my balance.
Virgin Money has a bizarre system of only saying your mortgage balance between 7:30am and 8pm, so I am either feeding little FLC or at work.
It also seems to only tell me the balance, not much else - must investigate whether its set up correctly, as it only says "Continue" or "Delete" under information.
    Anyways; the good news.
    Balance: £99,743.
Finally in the sub £100k club.
We got there last year, but re mortgaged to extend the house prior to the stork bringing little FLC.
Got another OP to make sometime this month, was left £1k in a will, and we were not expecting any money (especially sad money like this) so will use it to OP.

Sorry to hear about news of sad money.

That is odd re:Virgin money, no idea what that's about.
