Old Mobile insurance payments
Hi,
Apologies if this is on the wrong thread, and that probably this has been brought before.
Being a complete buffoon, I have only just checked a recent bank statement, which suggests I'm paying £22.25 a quarter to Carphone Warehouse. when i enquired, it would appear this is an insurance direct debit going way back to 2003 I didn't know I had !, I seem to have been paying this quarterly since 2003 !!, however CPW suggest i contact vodafone, which I did. I have been with voda since about 2000 ish, apart from a break in 2010, went to another provider and then came back to voda in 2011. The problem is, Vodafone state they cannot find any records going back to 2003, to provide the info CPW require, to mull over any reimbursement. Just wondered if anyone had encountered the same problem. I can see voda and CPW batting it from one to the other. Any advice, other than my stupidity graciously accepted.

I don't wish to be critical but your money must be easier to earn than mine.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Cancel the DD at the bank, Whoever it is will write quickly enough. Best guess is you took the policy out with anew phone years ago and forgot it was in place.
If you have not thought about it for a long time chances are its a policy on an old phone long gone.
You are unlikely to get anything back, you've been insured and had piece of mind for loss, unfortunalty on something you probably don't own.
If you could check back the small print you'll probably find the responsibility was on you as a customer to notify the insurer of change of handset.0 -
If it's the TMTI insurance taken out through cpw etc what's it got to do with Vodafone?
It's not just about the money0 -

You have been paying £22.25 a quarter for eleven years and you did not notice?I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
firstly, grumbler, CPW say it must be Vodafone's insurance policy, but i cannot see how it can be tbh. As vodafone insurance policy payments are included in the monthly charge, and it expires once the contract does.
After all it's CPW collecting the DD, which gjchester, i have now cancelled thanks. I know for a fact i haven't taken any insurance policies out ever on my phones, as they have always been covered elsewhere, the only thing i could think of, is if they have tagged a free period of insurance on, who knows,it so long ago. back to CPW it is. thanks.0 -
CPW are talking rubbish and simply fobbing you off. I can't see how they can take money for Vodafone's insurance. If they take money they must know what this money is for and explain this to you instead of sending you to Voda.
You can definitely claim some money back from your bank under the DD guarantee, but they will refuse to refund all money.
If CPW kept taking money and can't even explain what for, then you can possibly claim all the money for the last 6 years via the small claims court (online) if CPW don't refund it voluntarily.0 -
Cheers for that, CPW do say its for an old sony ericsson 750i, but want to know what date i updated from that phone, well they should probably know, going to the bank to request DD info and possible mandates. also have written to CPW requesting refund. will update as soon as. cheers.0
