I did indeed starnac :j lovely gig and my name was on a list so i didn't have to stomp - only ever done that once actually, didn't work :rotfl: then someone else came along and asked ME if they could have a free ticket and i'm afraid i said loudly 'no! even i had to pay and i'm sleeping with thr bass player!' :o:o :rotfl:

welcome doobop :hello: how very lovely to meet you! at reading all my old diaries  i bet they're right full of nonsense!! :o :rotfl: at you wanting to reassure me about the phd though, how very sweet :):) wish someone could have done that at the time!! :rotfl:

evening not as spendy as i thought - bumped into one of the band at the station so shared a taxi to venue (£3) then drove home to dump stuff/shower/eat - all in less than 30 mins!!

at gig bought my cheery a couple of drinks, plus tea for me and a tube of smarties :o £7.20 in total i think.

almost scared of adding up this month, feel like i may have gone over already!! :o

Best line EVER in a DFW diary, possibly! :rotfl::rotfl::T

Do the adding up thing - go on, it'll either be better than you were fearing, in which case you can stop worrying (even if you're not really "worrying" you know what I mean) or it'll be as bad, in which case at least you know and you can money-shuffle to take account. Glad last night wasn't as spendy as you thought it would be too - good when that happens!

    :rotfl: :rotfl: EH :D

more idiocy from me today i'm afraid :o :rotfl: left my phone plugged in at a care home and didn't realise til i was half way into a 12 mile taxi journey back to station  considered getting them to post but what a faff! so we turned thr taxi round...

so that's another £8 (and if he'd had the counter on it would have been much more!!) on top of the £22 fare (fortunately work pays for that though). still, £16 in 2 days on taxis only necessary because i was an idiot is NOT good!!

think how many tunnocks tea cakes that could have bought!! :rotfl:

still, i'm ever so grateful that i had the means to pay and it dorsn't mean i'll go without food like i might have had to in the past :o

staying at home tomorrow though, just in case... :rotfl:

Ok, popped to the shop this evening and spent £6 on quorn fillets and brocolli and gravy granules :o Highly unecessary but at least I had a relatively wholesome tea instead of just buying a giant cake! :D

Updating sig to 4 NSDs and £138 total spent...

Hey Cheery - I'm loving hearing your adventurous tales of living a good life, whilst still managing to *manage* the pennies.

Glad that you got your phone back pronto too :D

    Have a good day :)

Thanks Greying :D i love reading what you're up to too :D

Exciting letter arrived yesterday saying we'd paid the mortgage off :j :j :j :j you'd be forgiven for thinking we'd already done this given how close we were in January but with one thing and another we decided to let it run its course rather than doing it then. But now it's finished!! :j :j :j :j

Have to say i feel quite weird about it :o :rotfl: partly because it's not MY mortgage, and i haven't made any special effort to pay it off...
baI'm fortunate that Mr Cheery took it out while i was still in junior school :o :rotfl: and made the sensible decision to base it GAH BLOODY PHONE PHTTING WORDS IN THE WRONG PLACE!!!n to

sorry :o :rotfl: sometimes the cursor jumps back and it will only type in the middle of a sentence and i can only get rid by posting :rotfl:

anyway, they took it out based only on one income when they were both working full time, as they didn't want to be crippled by it. He ended up on his own after a bit anyway so it was a good job! He's had a standing order for slightly more than required but otherwise not made any extra effort.

I guess part of me feels like i don't deserve it :o He does of course, through making sensible choices and, you know, actually spending 24 years paying it off :rotfl: :rotfl:

But now it's gone we plan to put my name on the house deeds too and i feel like i should have done something more to earn it :o

However, right now mine is the main income and is likely to be for the next 30 years  :rotfl: so i guess by then i'll have earned it :D

i suppose it's good that we both feel like we're getting the better deal - i get to own half a house outright at the age of 34, he gets to not have to worry about income for the rest of his life, for which he is happy to hand over half a house :D

So - a new budget required soon! :j :j :j it wasn't an enormous mortgage anyway thank goodness but an extra £277 (i think) a month will be Very Nice Indeed :j :j :j

Of course there's plenty of tedious paperwork to sort out regarding it but i am on the case with advice and aim to have EVERYTHING financial, mortgage related, joint accounts, phone bills etc FINALLY sorted by the end of June

at which point i will have a LARGE celebration :D

:j :j congratulations to both of you for becoming mortgage free :j :j

As for the "not deserving it" part, think of it as doing it the wrong way round. Most breadwinners get a mortgage and spend 30 years working to pay for it. You, got a house (well half a house ;) ) and will spend 30 years being the breadwinner. :rotfl: so stop worrying and get your name on owe deeds.

Then we will crack out the  obviously MSE doesn't allow us champers ;)

    Thanks Starnac :):)

Came in here all full of myself to declare another NSD :D thinking I'd not left the house so clearly didn't spend anything...

.. then remembered I ordered some new printer ink (which is technically house money, not MINE so I'm not counting it) and a new plug for my work laptop (which definitely IS my fault so I have to declare that... :rotfl: )

I've asked work to replace it, but since it was clearly me who lost it, they don't seem to be in any hurry... I'm currently using one of Mr Cheery's old ones, but he wants it back so spent £15 on a new one - including delivery - apparently it'll be here tomorrow! :j

Won't be a NSD tomorrow. On a course for work, got to pop to the bank (Oh! The mortgage company sent us a £21 refund cheque :j :j so once that's cleared I'll add to signature :D :j ) then gig in the evening - actually I don't need a ticket and it's bring your own booze, and I might get a lift....

    :rotfl:
