    They do indeed :D

    So. Other money news. Door-hanging-bloke texted the other day to ask if I'd got his email - ie gently prod me because I hadn't paid him. Except I was convinced I had :eek: A quick check of the bank account suggested I had, er, got distracted in the midst of transferring money it seems, and didn't finish the transaction (there was no indication I'd ever started...). :o How embarrassing. All done now though - £180...

    Car has been back and forth to the garage like I don't know what. Took it in again Tuesday and they had it two nights - and it started perfectly both mornings. Collected it yesterday, and it started perfectly first time today thank goodness. Fingers crossed that's the end of it. They didn't charge me anything else as they suspected they'd just dislodged something last time they fixed it... Breakdown cover ran out today so renewed that yesterday - £66 for a year of home start which I think is excellent value :money: Also need to check when tax runs out - have a vague feeling I had a letter that I've ignored... :eek:

    What else? Went to a friend's gig last night, so between entry tickets and beer/tea that was about £20. Don't mind at all - always happy to support a pal and the venue was a good community spirited type thing too :j

    Got a rare free day today :j :j Need to hatch a plot. In fact, I can feel a vague list coming on...

    GENERAL TIDYING
    * clean kitchen
    * hoover kitchen
    * tidy living room (want to be able to get out of door into garden!)
    * hoover living room
    * clean bathroom
    * hoover bathroom
    * hoover bedroom
    * put new sheet on when dry (I did the rest of the bedding yesterday but the sheet was still in the wash)

    DIY-TYPE THINGS
    * fix hoover (might need to do that before above list :rotfl: )
    * sort pile of stuff for the tip
    * go to tip
    * paint garden wall
    * touch up outside window frames
    * clear entrance ready for plasterer next week
    * strip woodchip off ready for plasterer

    GARDEN
    * sort pots and plant out new plants I bought last week
    * cut branches off tree outside living room window
    * trim willow (probably should do BEFORE tip)

    ERRANDS
    * garden centre for compost and houseplants
    * tip
    * local school fair for cake :D

    OTHER THINGS
    * YNAB and banks
    * blog post

    Obviously that's all higgledy piggledy :rotfl: I've already been and done the parkrun though and had breakfast and done the (massive unwieldy pile of) dishes :o still sitting around in my running kit, so going to go and clean the bathroom and have a shower as a start, then finish off the kitchen and get some soup on, and then see where the rest of the day takes me.

    Loving your "vague list" that turns into a very long, specific one with lovely colours! :rotfl:

    I've got the opposite issue with a tradesman currently - the builder doing our kitchen has clearly been too embarassed to ask us for any money thanks to all the delays etc so I messaged him to ask whether he would like some cash as an interim payment, and have heard nothing back. Oh well, while it's sitting in our ISA it's earning us at least a smidge of interest so all good...and I HAVE offered, which is the main thing! :D

    I'd just keep it til he asks for it! :D

    Well I think I've finally finished all the things on that list (9 days late... :rotfl: ) except painting the garden wall, which I might do tomorrow while the plasterer's here and I'm confined to the house, if the weather stays dry that is. Hope it does, then I can also finish off painting the window frames...

    Not much to report. Been covering the kitchen cupboard doors with sticky backed plastic :rotfl: they were here when Mr Cheery moved in nearly 30 years ago and the bottom ones especially were looking a bit worse for wear - they're only veneer coated chipboard... Top were brown wood effect, bottom were white, and none of them went with our new sage green walls...

    ... So a few rolls of lighter wood effect sticky plastic from Wilkos and we have ourselves a set of matching, slightly less shabby looling kitchen units for £25 :j :j And a whole load of patience... :rotfl:

    Quite enjoyed covering them - now wondering what else I can cover :rotfl:

    Suspect they'll become a bit raggedy round the edges with too much wear, but they look better than before, and whoever buys our house is very likely to replace the kitchen anyway so they'll do :j

    Mr Cheery just adding a slight extra piece to the worktop he fitted in advance of the plasterer arriving - measured very carefully but made the fatal assumption that whoever built the offshot had done it at right angles to the house... goodness knows why as nowt else is square round here!!

    I've come to bed out of the way... :o :rotfl:

    I've got visions of the whole of Chez Cheery being covered in sticky backed plastic now! :rotfl:

    Eek to things not being at right angles though - we've fallen foul of that ourselves in the past, although thankfully our current place isn't too bad.

    Well all that rushing was in vain, as the plasterer cried off this morning with a sinus infection :( Rearranged for next week. Given us the opportunity to notice a large damp patch spreading across the wall now the paper is off :( Heading out with some mortar in a bit to try and bung up any holes - as soon as I've finished this cuppa...

    Been to see another house today - not for us :( Always weird when the owners are there just sitting in the living room :blink: MUCH prefer being shown round by an agent - this one had an agent there too, but both elderly owners and their daughter as well. Felt positively crowded with us there!

    Despairing a bit today of ever finding anywhere suitable, or ever finishing our house :o and it's drizzling on and off so I haven't been able to do the window frames either, so between that and the lack of plastering I'm feeling rather like I haven't made much progress today :o:o

    Still, if I can get the last of the sticky backed plastic onto the cupboards tonight I'll be winning :j :j and I'd planned to fix my bike but discovered today I've actually not got the bits I thought I had, and forgot to get them while I was out :mad:

    Hey ho...

    We found that we were really uncomfortable about viewing places with the owners there - one place we viewed, it was just a flat, but there was an entire family limed up on two HUGE sofas in the front room - there were about 8 of them, honestly, all watching our every move. We couldn't wait to leave! :rotfl:

    Gosh, have I really not been in here since May?! :eek: Goodness me.

    So, what's happened? A million things. LOTS of work. Mr Cheery had an operation (he's ok now, but no heavy lifting for another 4 weeks). Plastering is done :j :j and looks dry enough now for me to do a first watery coat tonight :j Booked someone to come and fit new front door. Arranged storage in various places for various things. Made a plan to get the final bits of house finished off :j

    Done lots of touching up painting today in all manner of colours - very glad I didn't lose track and paint the red gloss from the outside windowframes on the cream stair walls :rotfl:

    MUST do YNAB tonight, don't think I've even looked at it since the end of May, purse is stuffed with receipts and I know full well I've not kept track properly. But it's just dawned on me that it was payday yesterday :j :j (LOVE that I wasn't desperately waiting for it :j ) So will be good to get everything in order and see what I can add to the house fund, especially as there's no more big house bills to go out :j

    Back in a bit - going to do a bit more painting while there's still some natural light :j
