Thanks RT :kisses3:
Still very much enjoying boinging up and down the stairs:rotfl: i keep forgetting as it's the same colour as the old one was, then I stand on it and remember :rotfl: and get to the top of the stairs and it isn't stained and patchy and unravelling, and it's such a novelty havig carpet up to the attic!! :j Most pleased
Had a cheery plasterer round today to look at the entrance bit that needs a new ceiling - he'll email me a quote ober the weekend. Had another plasterer who was meant to be quoting but he's ruled himself out now - (a) he rang and left a message at half past 12 one night  (b) he rearranged TWICE because he was jetlagged (presumably explaining the odd middle of night call) and the (c) he didn't turn up at "teatime" today and when I texted at 6.30 to say I was going out at 7, he didn't reply... ^o)
Hey ho, I liked the other guy and he did everything he said when he said he would so as long as quote isn't outlandish, he"s in :j
Just been a right idiot. We ran out of milk, but when I went out I forgot purse so had to go home and back out again. Bought 6 pints (two for an event tomorrow), plus bag each of carrots and parsnips reduced to 15p :money:
Got home and opened fridge - to find 4 pints of milk, and a bag each of carrots and parsnips... :rotfl:
Carrot and parsnip soup for us all weekend then - and a whole load of milk :rotfl: Idiot:rotfl:
Also remembered that I'm going to need to pay door fitter geezer and plasterer this month so will have to NOT add any to house fund after all ^o) All in a good cause though!0 -

Not doing tooooo badly! Just about to get on with tea and knocking up a quick lentil soup for the freezer :j0 -
Wow Cheery - that's quite the list & amazed how much you got through!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I'm pretty amazed myself  especially as I felt like I spent most of the day wandering around in a bit of a daze and not doing very much :rotfl:
To be fair, at least two of the things on my list were 'sit down with a cuppa' and 'have lunch' and another one was 'send a text' so much of it wasn't exactly taxing...
Main time consuming bits were trotting to the supermarket (left the blithering list at home :rotfl: ) and fixing the carpet trim, and making tea.
Still, have also hoovered downstairs, removed a small plastic owl from the hoover which has increased its sucking power no endand done YNAB - had an APPALLINGLY spendy couple of days  lunch out yes but also stuff like new razor, lipstick, slippers, leggings... all things that were either necessary or falling apart so *nice* to have new, but I'd still be alive if I hadn't bought them
Hey ho, line drawn, back to thrifty ways. Sometimes I think when you're quite frugal and resist spending things, occasionally all your stuff does actually run out and you do have to replace thingsWasn't exactly extravagant but even so...
Rejigged the budget for this month as I'd put £700 into the house fund but remembered that I'll need it to pay the plumber (£70 very well spent as he kept our ancient heating system going), the guys who are coming to fit the doors tomorrow (about £250 I think - also well spent, as they're a blithering nuisance and we've not had a bathroom door since before Christmas  ) and the plasterer (£280, not coming til later in the month - this is the final bit of 'major' work and I'm not willing to attempt the ceiling or the hiding of pipes!) Tis expensive this getting people in to do stuff for you malarkey :rotfl: I can see why we usually try and do stuff ourselves! :money:
There might be a little left over from all that I suppose to stick back into the house fund
In more thrifty/less spendy news - I've made a big vat of lentil soup for work lunches :j Although I'm working at home tomorrow so it doesn't make any difference :rotfl: but it'll do the rest of the week too!
Oh, and the car is back in the garage tomorrow  Blithering thing. They'd best fix the right thing this time!0 -
Right, car is in garage, blokes are here fitting the doors, and the sun is shining :j :j0
-
Hope the car repairs went smoothly!:) - any news on the bathroom door?????:D
Popped on to share our contents insurance win! This year we saved up to pay the full lot upfront, but pesky company sent a document with a 50 pound increase! Went online and took 5 minutes to get a quote from their own website, as we were prepared for a 15% increase & low and behold, quote was for 60 pounds less than their quote - we have saved 10 off from the price we paid last year.
Remembering the frustration you had earlier this year with trying to get the price lower, I quit while ahead!:o so 124 for the year instead of 187!!!:T:T:T (and the bloke I spoke with was not even surprised when I told him to cancel the renewal of the other policy and why!)4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
