Yuck to vinegary soup - BUY MORE BAGS!!
That's a great tip off about H&B sandwiches though - it would never have occurred to me to look there!

They're pretty good actually - mostly just like a sandwich you"d make yourself rather than all kinds of fancy nonsense. They had the one I had, cheese and pickle, and hummous and celery i think but there's usually a bit of a mix.
Fortunately today's leftovers survived intact :j0 -
I tried to buy more bags last night but @ldi only had tie handle ones - don't think that's going to hold my flat slices of soup well :rotfl: Of course I could stick them upright, but at the minute we've only got one shelf of freezer so things are packed as tightly as possible :eek:
YNAB done :money: and bizarrely I seemed to have £17.59 more than I thought... :eek: Clearly miscalculated something somewhere... but since it's in my favour for once I'm not going to worry too much :rotfl:
Right, best get to work.0 -
Morning chums :hello:
What a glorious morning it is! :j I slept in our new spare room last night as I still have an annoying cough that's disturbing poor Mr Cheery and I thought it was a bit mean to make him sleep on the sofa again (also I was quite excited at the prospect of sleeping in the room that's basically been a shed for the last 30 years :rotfl:
Hadn't realised quite how much the sun streams into here in the morning, it's gorgeous! :j also helps that it's the only tidy room in the house at the minute :rotfl:
Anyway I must get up as we're off to see another house this morning :j :j I suspect this one may feel a little small... but it's hard to tell as there aren't pictures of all the rooms, but the garden is SO cheerful it may outweigh the slight deficiencies of the house (for me at any rate) like the one we saw last weekend did.
And sometimes you can't tell until you actually see a place.
This one is about an hour away so we're going to combine it with a spot of lunch and a nice bit of exploring :j :j0 -

Have a lovely time! And I agree about 'seeing' a place for yourself - I can never tell from a photo how large/light a room is, or the 'flow' of rooms etc.

Thanks Greying
we did indeed have a lovely time :j Cheery house was very cheery, and surprised us by being slightly bigger than we expected - but barely any storage space and certainly not enough for us. Garden was lovely - but sadly overlooked by the upstairs windows of an entire row on the opposite side of the road, which wasn't clear from the pictures or from google earth
Hey ho. It was also a LONG drive - only 32 miles, but over an hour on small wiggly roads, so not really ideal for a regular commute at allBeautiful today though, with the sun shining, and goodness me, the views. Gosh. I love it out there - we're lucky to live where we do now, so close to the national park, and so very fortunate to be able to even *contemplate* living in it
I do count my blessings every single day
(well, some days. Other days I am a distracted ungrateful so-and-sobut I endeavour to be better!
)
Anyway, after cooing over the house, we went to a nearby market town for lunch - had a chip butty and ate sitting on some steps in the sunshine :j Then after a charity shop wander (bought a couple of books) we went in a little church cafe for tea and cake. As we went in, an old gentleman was coming out and told us it was the 'best place in town!'
Can't beat a cafe recommendation from a pensioner - they always know the best spots. In fact, that's how we find a decent cafe if we're somewhere we don't know - check out where the old folks are. Most wise.
Anyway, all this waffling started because I have TWO UNEXPECTED HOURS in the house on my own and need an overambitious list! :j :rotfl:
So...
* secret survey (last day)
* kettlebells exercises
* hoover landing - Mr Cheery just cleared all the DIY stuff off so we can...
* put down new underlay ready for old carpet to go back on top :j
* bit of general tidying
* finish writing letter to friend in Belgium
* make a bit of a plan for tomorrow...
Right, ready, steady... GO (after I've finished this tea)

Ay up lovely - Not so fast - I occupy the *ungrateful so-and-so* bench so often, that there's a brass plaque with my name on it! :rotfl:
Sorry that the house wasn't for you - but pleased you were able to say 'nope' outright, nothing worse than 'maybe' when contemplating a house-sized chunka cash.
Love your steps chip-butty-picnic, and agree about church refreshments. Falmouth has the most wonderful in-church caff. We have been there several times on hols, and it's our 'goto' place. In addition, they let you eat your own food there too! They figured that if they did that, you'd buy a cuppa or a cake or a bookmark or something alongside it - and I have to say, they were RIGHT!:T

Ooh that is indeed novel and extremely cheerful! :j :j I've not been to Falmouth, might have to investigate
Well I did the survey, half an hour of kettlebells, a bit of general tidying, hoovered landing, kitchen and bathroom and took the underlay upstairs ready for tomorrow :j Not too bad. Oh and did a load of washing - should be able to have clean sheets tomorrow! :j
Not made my list yet though, will ponder...0 -

Well, I'm not sure it is so great now - I looked online to be able to give you the name of the church, and I'm not sure they are doing it anymore. THIS page says exactly what we experienced - ie that you could eat your own food (I remember we willingly bought tea/cake the several times we used it, so didn't realise they stipulated you 'had' t0 buy a drink - but we definitely ate our own packed lunch), and gives the impression that it is still running. However, elsewhere there are articles that show the cafe has moved and is now run by a multi faith/church group, elsewhere.
Sorry - as it was a good place to go, and very popular when we went there - which would have been in September each time, but out of the school holidays. I do remember it was down near the sea-front - a veritable oasis of sensibleness in an ocean of 'ye olde corneesh fudgey shoppees' and salted sea attire shops.... although the ships chandlery shop is worth a visit, lots of intersting 'useful' stuff in there
Will you be driving there, or going in by train?
