Indeed :D I was hoping to give a couple of ridiculous examples from the Stork books but I can't find them! Clearly in a pile somewhere with the rest of my cookery books but goodness knows where...

Today has been... HOT  Didn't realise quite how hot til I left the house at lunchtime to walk into town - and gave up after 10 mins to get on a bus (boiling hot, but at least I wasn't having to MOVE). Goodness me.

Anyway, stupid coil has now been whipped out. Couldn't stand the pain any more. Doc said 'what makes you think it's caused by the coil?' Er... it started when I had it put in, and has continued ever since... She said 'well, the only way to know for sure is to take it out and see if the pain stops' Grrr. Well, by that point I'd had enough, so it's out :j :j

As soon as I'd got home I felt better, and was even moved to put the washing away, hoover the bedroom, change the sheets - all things that should have been done a fortnight ago but I just couldn't face *lifting* things :o  Not had a drop of pain since (except toothache, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't caused by them taking the coil out :rotfl: )

So now we start an endless round of hormonal experimentation, reminiscent of being a teenager. Yawn. Or I grit my teeth and try again with another coil  Not sure I can face that right now!

Anyway - this isn't remotely moneysaving (other than I suppose how much I'm saving by not having an accidental child :rotfl: )

Not done anything remotely MSE today really. Got the bus both to and from town. Bought some suncream and assorted other toiletries and got some new Superdrug points. Filled the car up ready for our no quibble night away this weekend and the local garage has changed hands and now does nectar points so I have half a chance of actually getting enough to use for something soon :rotfl:

Decided to take tomorrow as holiday :j I've been in so much pain this last fortnight, and prodded and interfered with so many times that I feel like I haven't properly relaxed for weeks! Of course, the house is still in uproar so I can't really *properly* relax but at least I might be able to get on with something useful - like painting the cellar :D :j Was meant to be waiting for Mr Cheery to clear the last of the stuff out but that might never happen so I might just move it into the middle and paint round it :D :rotfl: At least it'll be cool in the cellar! :rotfl:

(or I might just meet a friend in the park and eat lolly ices instead :rotfl: )

    Morning chums :hello:

I am off work at the start of an impromptu 4 day weekend and it's GREAT :j :j :j

Booked our No Quibble hotel last night for the weekend - we're going to Skegness for the night :D :rotfl: Never been to Skegness and we do love a traditional/tacky (depending on your preference) holiday resort :j :j Got a sea view room with a balcony apparently, for £75 for the 2 of us including breakfast - not tooooo bad on a July weekend! :j I am SO excited you wouldn't believe it :rotfl:

So today is all about POTTERING:

    - possible cuppa with friend
    - trawl charity shops for suitable hot weather clothes
    - post birthday cards
    - tidy up a bit
    - pack for weekend
    - sort directions

Blah blah, some other things that might or might not get done, but they're the important ones :D

    Afternoon all :hello:

I promise I'll stop with all this talk of coils and doctor visits now :o

We went to Skegness :D :j Just for one night, less than 24 hours in the end :rotfl: I've never been, and always wanted to go and see :D

Well, now I've seen :rotfl: We got a 'discount' room at The Grand, £74.50 instead of £83 - not exactly much of a discount but not too bad for 2 of us on a July Friday night with breakfast included and a sea view :j :j

In fact, MORE than a sea view, because we were opposite the park, where some kind of festival was going on, so we got to watch somee mad cabaret things, someone doing hand stands on TOP of the stage, a man with a GIANT balloon, which at some point he got completely inside of (how?! Quite impressive :D ) and, rather excitingly, we got to watch the entire performance of this:

    http://www.withoutwalls.uk.com/carousel/

from the comfort of our hotel room's giant chairs and giant window, with the sea in the background :D

There's a little video snippet here, but it doesn't really do it justice

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4456m5rVVQ

I very much enjoyed it! :j

Not a bad weekend spendy-wise either.

    £74.50 hotel
£2.45 chip butty when we got there :rotfl:
£25 curry (probably left a bigger than usual tip, I was in holiday extravagant mode)
£6 beer and on-offer cans of G&T :rotfl:
    £12 lunch and tea

= £120 ish for the pair of us (plus diesel, of course, but that comes from the normal diesel budget for the month as it was only about 80 miles each way)

Not tooooo bad. And a MUCH needed break.

Mind you - not the most sophisticated of breaks - we nearly wandered into a street fight while looking for somewhere to eat last night, and ended up surrounded by several police cars. Then we saw a man weeing in the street near the restaurant (nice. Woke up in the middle of the night by someone in the next room being violently sick. (and again by a giant thunderstorm), and then this morning one of the cafes had been entirely cordoned off by the police!

    :rotfl:

Home now and having a nice rest :D

Ooooh! Just made the NICEST thing for tea :j :j

Did an Approved Foods shop the other day for the first time in AGES, and got two 1kg bags of spelt flour.

Er, what on earth do you do with spelt flour?! :rotfl:

Fancied something a bit different for tea, so I googled 'quick recipe for spelt flour' and ended up with this - whizzed up a batch in about half an hour (plus another half an hour to clear the flour I'd scattered ALL round the kitchen :o :rotfl: )

Mashed up a tin of chick peas with a bit of garlic, a dollop of quark, a bit of salt and smoked paprika, and rolled it up in the wrap with a load of lettuce :D

    That's it! :j :j

Super cheap and super cheerful - and I think the recipe made 10 (not entirely sure as Mr Cheery was eating some as I went along :rotfl: ) so got plenty for lunch tomorrow :j

Might try bunging a couple in the freezer :j

Just sneaking in another with some honey on :o :j :j

    ...Pilates today...

Funny you should mention that Cheery... I've just purchased some pilates DVDs and a portable player...grand plans of joining the gym at a cut rate price didn't materialize, so bd pressie to myself was the player...

much easier to exercise at home! & work is needed to strengthen core after my recent back injury so it all works out quite well!

Are we keeping a tally of days done?:D

...but yes, I really rate my student veggie cookbook...

:DI too have a lovely student veggie cookbook! - M00sewood low-fat vegetarian - absolutely everything was delicious & CHEAP! - which on a student budget was very very necessary! - we used to walk down to the local farmer's field to see what was been given away for free & base meals around the freebies!:D

Wow Cheery what a lovely recipe! I've not looked at her blog in ages & forgot how pretty the pics are! Once we've unpacked the food stores will find the spelt flour & put it to good use! (We are still in boxes from our move!)

Ooh, good luck finding your flour! We've just (stupidly) bought a 16kg bag of malted grain flour (in addition to the spelt...) so I imagine much of that will be moving with us :D :rotfl:

Feel free to keep track! :j My plan is to do either pilates or the shred video every single day before I go on my holidays at the end of July  :j Currently texting my mum and sister with 3 healthy eating/exercise goals each day (as much to encourage them as me, we're all as bad as each other! :rotfl: ) It's actually really motivating knowing someone else is doing stuff too (and knowing you have to fess up if you don't make it...) :rotfl:

Might stick them on here too - feel free to join in :D

So, my three for today were:

    1. walking 10,000 steps (done!)
    2. have either doughnuts OR ice cream at the seaside, not both :rotfl: (actually, I ended up having neither, so extra points for me! :j )
    3. Shred video - I am in my exercise kit and half approximately half an hour before Mr Cheery gets home so I'm just about to put it on now  Don't remotely feel like it but I'd have to confess if I didn't do it and I'm on a roll so might as well! :rotfl:

(and I just spent quite a long time cleaning the kitchen - hardly spotless but makes a nice change to be able to see some of the floor to lie on!) :rotfl:

I'll be back in a bit to think about goals for tomorrow :D

 and :D in equal measure to Skeggie Cheery. But was it what you thought it would be? Better/worse? Does it still have a 'traditional' british seaside resort feel, or has it re-invented itself?

I've just had the 'Oh She Glows' cookbook from the library, and have some of Angela's recipes to try out. Your flatbreads are perfect summer fare :D

rtandon - I'm sooooo jealous about the 'walked down to the local farmers field and saw what was being given away for free' - different mindset all together, that and the whole CSA movement - it just doesn't happen here :( Arthur Potts-Dawson and JO have both banged on about in field waste with regards to food. We could eat like kings if we had any farmers/growers nearby that would let you pick 'leftovers'. Or even the local allotments - tremendous amount of waste on them :(

Have a great Sunday Cheery - I haven't checked up on the pygmy goats lately - I think I'll rectify that now :D

    Evening ladies!

Cheery - happy to report two units of pilates completed today! - Stretch/Flex & Core Strength - My back is still pretty tender, so it'll take weeks before I'm past the basics level! - Am hoping to work up to three units a day by next week (not sure if this is over ambitious :D)

I've misplaced my pedometer in the move, but will join you in the 10000 once it's been rediscovered!

Am LOVING your reporting three goals a day - I'm much less ambitious:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:As long as the pilates is done, I'll be happy!

GP - the days of free are 1/2 a lifetime ago! (and in another country) - I think the farmers were very kind to let us students walk away with the mishapen rejects! - these days I'm just happy to score a red sticker or two (or three)! - I've fallen in love with the Sainsbug's basics range as well - such good quality for such low prices!
