:rotfl::rotfl: - tell me that double post is not my eyes?:rotfl::rotfl:

:T:T:T to the sock knitting! It's one of my favorite communting activities! The last pair I attempted to make was with some posh Noro wool - slightly too ambitious as the lace required far more concentration than I could give it - so only 1/2 sock completed!
    4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)
(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)
    ...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)
New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)
Psst...I may have started a diary!

:rotfl: Nope, that's me trying to post and fold my bike up to get off the train at the same time :rotfl: Looked like it hadn't posted the first time round but clearly it had :rotfl:

I'm on the lookout for a new pattern - I need one that can make 2 socks out of 50g of wool and that probably means it's going to have a few lacy holes in it! :D :rotfl:

Just been playing around with MMM's net worth calculator etc - seems according to his figures we have a net worth of nearly £200,000 (but that includes the value of the house) + whatever Mr Cheery has in his pension (goodness knows!), and a savings rate of 43%, which means I'll be able to retire in about 20 years. Got to be able to do better than that!!

(although having said that, Mr Cheery starts getting his pension in 13 years   so we'll have that as income :j Might aim to retire then - I'll be 47 which is quite old enough!) :rotfl:

    Right - car insurance...

Go Compare cheapest was £248. Moneysupermarket cheapest £218.

Just had renewal email from existing insurer - renewal quote is £190 :j :j :j

Don't think I'm going to cut that much off by messing around with yet another comparison site, so it looks like existing insurer wins this year :money:

Will shove extra in patchwork fund :j :j

 NOT impressed with the bank though - just got an email asking for feedback for a recent call I made to them (which was actually a call they made to me) - and they've just put about a hundred customers' email addresses in the CC field! They've obviously realised straight away and recalled the email (and the recall message showed everyone's email addresses too :rotfl: ), and it didn't have any personal info except email addresses, but even so

Still, it does mean that whatever kind of day I'm about to have, it's probably going to be a better one than the person who just sent that email... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Good news for you on the insurance renewal, bad news for whoever sent that email, as you say

Net worth is also great! I wish I knew how much my apartment would sell for, I've no idea. I *have* remembered why I haven't tried to sell it yet :o there's quite a few years to go until I'm not liable to repay the VAT ...

Ah - I imagine the VAT would be quite a sizeable amount?

Why are financial things so complicated sometimes?? No wonder people are sometimes tempted to shove everything under the mattress! :o :rotfl:

I **so** agree with you :T and I confess that when I was really sick last month, I didn't open my post for about two weeks, I've never done that before. Nothing terrible in there when I did open it tho.

The VAT would be terrible, I think its about E15,000 - after hanging on for this long, it seems a bit silly to sell it now, but some time soon, I have to check out the figures. Not now tho :D I keep eyeing the garden, I think thats my priority :)

(wish I was getting out in the garden - still covered in snow though so not much point!) :D

    I'm just catching up.

:j to car insurance renewal. Dare I admit that I am actually looking forward to mine this year as *whispers* it's the first time I've actually put money away for it each month!!! It's terrible really as I've known this is the best way to do it for years but I've never done it!

I must look into my pension too. I have 2 pensions in two different pots plus an employer pension with the company I am with now. I would ideally like to merge the other 2 but no financial advisor will do it  My DH is also older than me and I would like to retire when he does to enjoy some time together. Which obviously means me retiring before the projected 65! Best start playing the lottery then :rotfl:

Wow KC that is a big chunk of VAT to pay. No wonder you are holding off selling. I don't blame you there.
    Goals for February
    Declutter 2/50
    Money Made £0/£200
    Overpayments £0/£200
