We are in a slightly, OK very, bizarre position here in that the question in the poll is not up for debate according to Glad, while the question which is to be discussed is not being polled upon.

    First point -

The poll, in the OP the questions are written 1 and 2 - but the actual poll is the other way around. I have just voted for the mag sticky when i wanted to vote for the other option. OK, my fault for not reading properly, but its early in the morning and im really busy.

    Second point -

If i had not been told about this new discussion, i would never have seen it (again). I do not use any of the sub board unless i am pointed in that direction, and having scanned a few pages before coming into this thread, it seems that people are turning off their PMs and some are actually wanting to block seeing the CCC (i believe it is referred as) so im sure i am not alone.

    Third point -

Why are we having this discussion again? MSE is run for EVERYONE - and although, if you read through this discussion, you can see lots of people want it one way, and lots want it the other way - even if one person wants to keep the mag dailies on the main board, then surely that is what happens?

I am not saying there cannot be a sticky, either on the main board or in a sub board with the links or whatever - i think this is the best idea anyway because it keeps everyone happy (main board and sticky) - but you cannot take any competition off the main board, otherwise, what is the point in having a main board? Shall we have a facebook sticky, twitter sticky, ITV sticky, Channel 4 sticky, radio station sticky (dont forget, there will be a few of these stickies because there are a few different groups of radio station) rafflecopter sticky, email sticky - need i go on?

The whole point in the MSE competition forum is that all competitions are available to all people, however they comp.

If someone has the time, and inclination to keep a sub board/sticky up, then well done and thank you - but please remember that not all people use them, and by making them exclusive, you are taking competitions away from the majority.

Im sure someone will now come along and say 'but the poll is proving the sticky idea is more popular' but, remember i have already admitted being an idiot and voting for the wrong option, and from all the comments i have had time to read so far, its the same people who are arguing for and against this idea every single time i have seen it come up - its the silent majority i am talking about - the ones who will not see this post or the ones that come after this post.

My final point is, if its too much work for the posters to post on the main board and run a sticky - then offer the job to someone else. None of us who post on here are indispensable, there will always be someone who would love to post a few comps as a way of giving back so it is not a case of, if its not done this way people are going to miss out, because they wont. I already see people posting daily/weekly competitions, not posting in a sub board and someone posting afterwards that they have done it for them - so things are not missed on here, there is always someone willing to help out.

Oh, and final, final point - the person who won the big Christmas mag daily - they would not have won if it had not been on the main board, so unless people are deliberately trying to hide them away for those who do not have lots of time to read stickies or sub boards, i think this proves the point that the competitions need to stay on the main board.

I don't use the mag dailies thread.

If I fancy entering a daily, I use the thread on the main board, which I'm able to tick to say I've entered.

I only enter the dailies once. I believe in fate - if I'm meant to win, I will :rotfl:

I would like to see one thread per prize, with a list of all mags running the comp.

I guess it doesn't matter - I will just stop comping the dailies entirely, as on a daily thread I can't tick on each comp, and this will mean I may enter multiple times and that's not my style of comping the dailies. :)

To attempt to clarify again, the major debate here and the only question which Glad has said is up for debate is whether the mags sticky contains direct links to the mag pages or to the main board threads. This is entirely separate to whether or how the mags comps are posted on the main board.

While it makes no difference to me whether they are on the main board or not, in the interests of accessibility I can see a strong argument for keeping them there. There is, however, no reason at all not to have direct links in the mags thread irrespective of how they are posted elsewhere if someone is prepared to do so. I hope that my earlier post has set out one way of achieving this through a team effort.

Again, I agree with every word.
For me the issue is not whether the comps are posted on the main board or not, I have no strong opinion either way but I can see more advantages to doing this than disadvantages.

However the issue that's bugging me and so many other regular mag daily compers, is whether or not to restore direct links to the MD thread!!!!!

Then why is there a poll saying otherwise?

    The questions -

    1. My Old Thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...1#post63694497
This used to be stickied on front page of main forum, new posts added to the end of the thread, updated to the first page

    2. Current Thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....php?t=4827008
The posts on here are posted to main board first, link added to the end of this thread, and updated to front page.

I read this to mean sticky or main board??? (and are the other way round in the poll)

I completely agree and would like this clarified as soon as possible! I am only referring to what Glad has said earlier in this thread.

To avoid any further confusion it must be made clear exactly what is under debate and what is not, and what the options are for what is under debate. Unfortunately we seem to be a long way from that at present and confusion, misunderstanding and possibly upset will continue until clarity is achieved.

Likewise :T and I would add that it should just be made clearer in the comp title if it is a 'special' comp that can't be found in the mag/s online prize draw list but only accessible via a unique link.

Reading back, I think Glad has already made it clear that the MD comps will continue to be listed on the main board, so not sure if the poll will actually accomplish anything in the end

Edit - I think this post from Glad makes it pretty clear...

the way mag dailies are posted now means more people get to see/enter more comps and we all want that at the end of the day :)

I think that comment is rather unfair - Its not about deliberately hiding them from people - if ANY comper has the time to go through an extra 100+ mag daily comps on the main board - then they have the time to quickly click on a mag daily sticky ON THE MAIN BOARD that is not 'hidden' away - and enter them from there if they so wish!
people that have no interest in them now have loads of extra comps to cross out now as they are trying to comp on the main board - all the people that regularly do the mag dailies, now have to waste time going through them all on the main board now when they are entering them from their own designated place already - so for the sake of 1 small click that the (seemingly small minority) of people arguing against them being taken off the main board would have to do to see them or enter them - I think its ridiculous that we are even in this situation having to discuss it in first place! :rotfl:

I liked it when the mag dailies were posted in their own thread as it didn't 'clog up' the boards with them. However, I personally do them from the mag sites themselves rather than the boards. :)
