    Afternoon all

Hope everyone is well, have only managed a quick skim back so not really caught up.
Although it's brighter today I am feeling really cold , can't seem to get warm.
Will be trying the gammon in coke later, Thanks Jelly :)
My DGS1 made me laugh yesterday, I gave him a Skylanders annual I picked up at Mr T's and thankfully after saying thank you he followed up with "what is a glitch, a bargain or a freebie?" :rotfl: I told him it didn't matter what it was, it proved I thought about him and loved him.

I'd prob ask school first. Do they do "Gifted & Talented" or "Academically More Able"? In which case they may fund and poss provide a 6th form student mentor for support.

Some Universities run outreach programmes eg Sheffield have SOAMS for Y10+ who may be considering medicine. Poss worth exploring whether any local to you have anything available.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been onto the school since last October without any luck. It doesn't help that they don't do A'Levels anymore, as they do the IB.
I remember seeing a club for gifted and talented at our local University , so will follow this up.
    Thanks again.

I think my garden is a little confused.

I have clumps of chives growing, a (only one) raspberry plant growing, my bluebells are coming up and my rhubarb has broken the ground

My gardens are too, dont worry....its normal for bluebells to start coming up but they'll go dormant and come up again in the spring proper

My apple tree is budding, my magnolia tree is the same. My onions started sprouting in the bags and both my blackcurrant and raspberry plants are budding too :D I'm enjoying the signs of spring but know it wont last long

My parents little apple tree had blossom on it in December. I drove past another tree a couple of weeks ago and that had blossom on it too

I've been enjoying the posts about "What do I get out of the thread", here are some of my thoughts.

To the best of my recollection my presence on this illustrious thread developed out of the days of DTD. All of the thrills and spills of a truly magnificent and long lasting glitch were there to be enjoyed to the full, but this thread gradually became about so much more than just the bargain hunting.

Thanks to this thread I know that whether times are hard or not, I will always be able to look after my nearest and dearest. But I also know that whatever I need some help or advice on - a weather update from another part of the country, a dodgy amplifier, a recipe fora baked potato, how to disassemble a paint roller, the dog's bad breath or something more serious - someone on here will know, or help me find out. I love it that when I have good news I can share it and others will be pleased for me, and if I feeling am sad, ill or discouraged, others will have a consoling word, advice and encouragement or a silly joke to make me smile. I love the silly long term jokes - 1p knives, Mark Black, various mumsnet sagas, HC's shoes to name but a few. I really appreciate that through this thread I have got to know a wide range of people of all ages and stages of their lives that would otherwise not have been possible where I live. I love hearing about the ups and downs of your lives and sharing your joys and your sorrows. I can do that with my real friends too, but sometimes a degree of anonimity can be quite liberating.

To me this thread is like the very best sort of virtual pub, where everybody can drop in when they are passing and pull up a chair. It's spontaneous, it's rewarding and it's often hilarious. I thank all of you for your contributions, they brighten up my day
    Hope is not a strategy.
  • Breakfast was some stewed apples (windfall, free), lunch was sandwiches using Warburtons Thins with cheese and mayo bought with the Sainsbobs £0.60 free shopping with Warbs MOCs, and tea will be M&S food bought yesterday ... so a day's worth a free food.:)
But for tea, shall I have the millionaire shortbread or the chocolate souffle - decisions decisions:D

Also done a MOC shop today, two pots of Quaker Heaps of Fruit, and a Nakd bar - all free:)

So it's turning into another great money-saving day:T
