gatwick hotel + parking

hey everyone - has anyone flown from gatwick recently and stayed in a hotel with parking for there holiday?
I'm trying to choose between going the night before and staying in a hotel or getting up early and driving the same morning of the flight.
gatwick is about a 2 hour drive from where I live (depending on traffic -could be quicker/longer) so I always like to give myself plenty of time just in case.
so I thought I'd ask & see if anyone had a good experience recently with any specific hotels & parking
thanks

sorry I'm going to do a shameless bump to try and get some replies as I posted this really late last night0

I usually start by looking on http://www.holidayextras.co.uk/ (and remember cashback on Quidco)
There are a load of small B&B and guest houses in the area which are much of a muchness. Just check to see if transfers are included.
Also look at Travelodge and Premier Inn as they don't appear on the comparison sites. If flying from the North terminal then there is a Premier Inn directly opposite departures - it's usually a little more expensive than the Travelodges but it's much more convenient as you use the Valet Parking and then just roll out of bed in the morning and into the airport bar.0 -
We always use Premier Inn's park and fly package. Really easy and it makes the holiday start off in a relaxed way if you have an early flight.0

Have a look on trip adviser for hotels in Horley which is a 5 min drive from Gatwick. Many offer parking whilst you are away and will pick you up/drop you off at the airport.
There is also a premier inn as posted aboveThe Cabbage

We've stayed at a B&B/hotel on Massetts Road, Horley, called Acorn Lodge.
It's a steady 10-15 minute walk from there to Horley centre where there are loads of places to eat - Indian, Chinese, Tapas plus pubs all doing food including a Wetherspoons.
They do stay-and-park deals.
We find it's a nice relaxing way to start our holiday and we don't like being stuck in a hotel.
Massetts Road has many similar places, check out laterooms.com.
We noticed this time that their sister hotel - Cambridge Hotel - was a fair bit cheaper.
It's slightly further out but about £3 in a taxi from Horley centre.
Both places do airport transfers at a small charge.0 -
Another vote for premier inn, parking is opposite the hotel when you get there , pick up from car park as you come out from departures
Room and parking direct via premier inn web site was almost the same as booking parking direct with the same peopleEx forum ambassador

I've used the Cambridge Hotel before. Fairly basic rooms but its fine for one night. They have a restaurant but I took a walk down the road to a local pub. I think they charged £5 return for a transfer.0 -
We always stay at Cumberland House in Horley on their stay & park package. It's a 5 minute drive from Gatwick, there's a great pub/restaurant less than 5 minutes walk away, plus all those already mentioned around a 15 minute walk. The hosts at the B&B are really friendly, lovely rooms & a great breakfast.
I think we pay around £100 for an overnight stay with 11 days parking (10 night holiday), could maybe get the same cheaper but we love this place & would highly recommend.0 -
If you don't mind cheap and cheerful, we're staying at the Travelodge at Gatwick airport in May for £20 for the night and parking a couple of miles away with Airparks, which us costing us £74.99 for 15 days parking, so less than £100 for the whole lot.
Probably won't be the quietest nights sleep, but it's convenient and cheap!0 -
I would advise to drive down the night before and stay in a hotel, the M25 can be a nightmare in the morning, rush hour starts very very early. If you go via Dartford there are some serious roadworks that always has tailbacks that seem to go on for miles. Seriously not worth the hassle of being stuck in traffic and in a panic about missing your flight.ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0
