Credit Card Reward Schemes Article Discussion

We are of on a weeks holiday to Rome and Naples on Sunday - paid for entirely with Clubcard points (£1875)!
Please tell me how you managed to do this. I have enough Tesco vouchers to get almost £500 of holiday vouchers but as far as I understood £500 was the most amount of coupons you could use with a holiday booking.
Syl ???Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you0 -
There was an error in JohalaReewi's post of 28th Sept on the rewards from using the Tesco credit card. Note that the credit card acts as a Clubcard. You cannot get extra points by using a Clubcard together with the credit card.
I have both a Tesco credit card and a Clubcard and even though the cashiers at Tesco tell you that the credit card also acts as the clubcard, I always insist on them swiping both cards and consequently I receive two lots of vouchers, one lot from the credit card spend and one lot from the clubcard.
That means I also get two lots of money off vouchers or double points vouchers which I then use in store against my shopping.Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you0 -
Can anyone help with a phone number to apply for the Conran Card. The website is currently not available. Looking to get a good back up to AMEX with a high rate of reward/cashback.0

I couldn't find a specific number for Conran Card but it's an MBNA clone and their number is: (MBNA Customer Satisfaction Line): 0800 062 0620 -
From Syl's post, if you insist on the check out assistant swiping the clubcard AND the Tesco credit card do you really get double vouchers?
Sounds a bit too good, either that or moneymonkey's getting confused again...The Planet of the Apes is about my life.

A quick cut and paste from the rewards article extended feature (the big one with all the full stuff)
"Rewards schemes are usually only for spending, not balance transfers (debt shifted from one card to another to get a lower interest rate), with the AOL card and Co-op Dividend card being very rare exceptions."
According to the terms and conditions on amex platinum, you can shift all your monthly direct debits to this card, household bills etc. Is there a catch?0 -

Example from MBNA online banking system:
Pay Other Bills
By clicking on the Submit button below, you authorise payment of the above balances by your MBNA Credit Card account number detailed below.
You will be charged a handling fee for balance transfer transactions, unless we have told you otherwise, of up to 3% of the transaction (minimum up to £3).0 -

I HAVE NOW RE-READ THE ALLIANCE&LEICESTER SITE AND HAVE SEEN THAT IT IS OFFERING 10% CASHBACK ON CASHBACK NOT ON TOTAL SPEND. THEREFORE THIS DISCOVERY ISN'T AS EXICTING AS IT COULD HAVE BEEN!!
I have just seen a credit card offer from Alliance&Leicester while applying for a joint current account (this card is only available to premier current account holders...)
The offer said that I would receive 0.5% cash back on all spending and a 10% bonus at the end of the year. I wondered if anyone could clarify this for me:
does that mean that if I spend £10,000 in the year and get 0.5% cashback = £50 then I get an extra 10% of this £50 i.e. an extra £5? (in which case the card is effectively offering a 0.55% cash back over the year - pretty unexceptional)
or:
will it pay an extra 10% cashback on the amount spent in which case from £10,000 spend, I would get £50 (at 0.5%) and an additional £1000! If this is the case - I suggest this is the card we should all be applying for!!
Wondered if anyone else had seen this and has any ideas?
Thanks!0
