Bought something last wednesday, and it was marked as dispatched on thursday. Royal mail 1st class.
I contacted them Wednesday after it hadn't arrived, to which they replied it had been "processed" Friday so should be with me very soon.. Hmmm, so not actually dispatched Thursday then...
It turned up today with a Royal Mail 24 sticker on.
I'm pretty sure they forgot to post it and did so yesterday so it arrived today, but why not just say "I'm really sorry, we totally forgot to post it but have now done so"?
I mean, they'd already lied about dispatch!

Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It seems more sellers are lying about dispatch times recently. They probably think they'll get marked down if they say they forgot whereas processed makes it sound partly out of their control and like something was happening. A lot of buyers would just accept that and not think too much of it.0

See my thread on eBay stars.
I'm very sorry as a newbie to this forum I dared to question dispatch. Apparently it's acceptable to mark an item as dispatched if you intend to post it sometime in the future.0 -
Well they have already lied about dispatch so I guess they figured one more lie wouldn't hurt!
Personally I'd rather sellers were honest. I would never mark someone down if they were polite and honest, but I really hate being lied to!
I never mark as dispatched until it has actually left.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

Me neither, stops you forgetting to send it if it's not marked as sent.0 -

Same. Sadly not everyone thinks the same though.0 -
I mark as dispatched as I do them as I put them in an envelope - but 99% always post that day.
It happened to me once I brought something and 2 weeks later it still hadn't arrived (tbh it was a small thing I'd forgotten about) so I logged in and they didn't even has it marked as dispatched.
Seller was v honest and simply said they had missed it and sent it out to me.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -

Mark I gave your thread a once over as a buyer people don't realise how affecting it is to get low stars.
Maybe this one seller deserved it but if it took 10 days to post do you ever think why? Mid December my youngest of two months old was hospitalized. I was breast feeding and I couldn't even go home to shower - it was only three days yet I ended up with 3 neutrals and low stars despite telling everyone who had brought something what had happened. One even put a neutral saying they are sorry I know you had problems but dispatch WAS slow.
I'm not trying to say its OK to dispatch an item so late - but as a seller if you were unhappy I would of wanted you to contact me and say why - perhaps give them a chance to explain I bet you maybe not as extreme as my case but your '3 stars' is not as damaging as 1 or 2 but sellers WILL get on your case if its not for a 100% valid reason like...you KNOW the seller has just been pure lazy.
Ebay sellers have lost their whole business simply because of these stars - As an example a while back a seller got banned because he mainly because he posted internationally - some items took a week + to arrive so they marked him down.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
I hate ebay for this reason, people can be so unreliable. I've had so many things from there just not return and had to go through lengthy process of applying for refund from ebay and paypal. hopeless! xLike to post about competitions - if you have found it helpful, please give me "Thanks"! Also interested in house keeping, money saving, technology, cosmetic industry, reading, charity, family.0

For slow dispatch what can the seller do to make things right? Give a refund for postage? Give you a couple of quid back? Doesn't work for free postage or items that are only a couple of pounds anyway.
I totally agree with contacting the seller if you have a problem but for something like that there's probably not a lot the seller can do to make it better. They were slow, that's not going to change. Some people really need certain items so giving money back is no use to them if they still didn't get their item when expected.
Contacting a seller just allows them to give you an excuse. Sure, your reason was legit and they too may have a legit reason, but how many will say the same kind of thing when it's not true? How do you know who's lying and who isn't? You don't.0 -

I appreciate what you say but business's don't breast feed. Others managed to place a notice stating they were closed or wouldn't dispatch between x and y dates. IMO my seller was just trying it on.0
