More info needed, I think
If these are items purchased on ebay prior to travel for your personal use, I'd say why does it matter where they were purchased from?
If these are items purchased and to be delivered to a holiday home/villa/hotel etc WHILE on holiday.... yeah, I can see that they maybe wouldn't be covered if, for example, the goods never turned up etc - you then couldn't claim for them as lost/stolen from travel insurer.
But again, then I'd assume the same would apply wherever they were purchased from.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

I called to insure my son's GoPro camera, she asked where I bought it it, I told her Ebay, she then explained quite clearly that gadgets bought on Ebay would not be covered, she explained that only "Gadgets" bought from a UK retailer would be covered, Ebay is an American company.0

A quick look at insurefor.com website reveals that they sell gadget travel Insurance as an 'add-on' to their single/multi trip policies.
No mention under 'what is not covered' on ebay

I'd suggest asking them where, in the policy wording on their website, it states that articles purchased from ebay are excluded. Maybe she could tell you where that is stated in the Policy wording?2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

What about Amazon. That's an American company too?
Besides, you don't buy "from" Ebay. It's a transaction between you and the seller. They just provide the marketplace. Many UK High Street retailers have ebay shopfronts such as Currys/PC World: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Currys-PC-World
I recently bought a tablet direct from Google (another American company!). Is that covered?
Sounds like a load of tosh to me.0 -

no, because it sounds like rubbish. The only issue one 'might' have is not being able to produce a till receipt to justify the amount claimed in the event of loss or damage. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

Why have you totally ignored the other comments though?
Things like "I'd suggest asking them where, in the policy wording on their website" - it could help clarify the sweeping statement made by a lowly telehpone agent and repeated by you.0
