  • Hi everyone to back to back 12.5 hr shifts completed!

Great news I continued to take lunch to work and have not spent a penny at work and still not wasted money on bottled water....a 12 year habit stopped! Even the kids have noticed the lack of half drank water bottles in the car. :-)

I didn't go to the pound shop I went to h'me barg@ins instead and spent £3.22 on 5 items that I needed. :money:

Haven't had anytime to work on OH b'day present got to tomorrow off must get back on track with this.

My way of thinking is definitely changing, when getting petrol I only buy petrol...can't believe I've kept to this:eek: no chocolate, or mints so my petrol costs have only included petrol.

Okay that's the celebratory news but it's not all good, good, good, still waiting for the insurance company to pay out finance company. Hopefully done by Tuesday apparently!

And my DD broke her school shoes :( and I had to replace them got a good deal from shoe zone though.

  • Phoned the car finance company and they still haven't received payment from the insurance company. Insurance company assure me they paid via bacs on Wednesday 29th.

I just feel like I'm going around in circles I just want to cry because now I have to pay another installment on a car I no longer have.

Off to night shift now will call them again on Wednesday when they have had 5 working days. My claim was agreed the beginning of January I can't believe it's being dragged out so much.:(

  • Hi hon

That's so rubbish. I hate it when these things happen and there's nothing you can do about it. Fingers crossed it will be paid tomorrow.

Out of interest, what are you having in your lunches for work? Been trying to think up some new ideas to rejuvenate our lunches and just stuck in a rut.

    xx

  • Hey mum2one how did the trip to the 99p shop go did you stick to the £5 when you got your wool?

Sassychick2014, I'm a fussy eater so my lunches for work are boring. (I don't eat fruit or any veg or fish to name a few so you can imagine how limited my lunches are.

There is a thread on here called take lunch to work, there is hundreds of suggestions and they are a good bunch constantly coming up with new ideas..

I've been having cupasoups, sandwiches, beans/spaghetti on toast, pasta shots and finally bringing leftovers got me through most of January.

I also buy a big bag of sweets (have to be small in size like mini marshmallows or skittles) that lasts me a few weeks, something I can dip into after my lunch to give me a sweet kick and because they are small my mind tells me I've had a lot I hope that makes sense lol.

Yes my crazy side is starting to show....lol

  • Morning!

Will have to go and take a look at that thread, thanks for the heads up. Think that's a great idea with the mini-sweets if you're not a fruit or veg person. However I don't think my willpower would allow me to stop at a few!

    Have a great day :)

  • I'm so excited guys I could burst!!!!

I went shopping in As*a today and looked at smart prices for the first time and the shops own brands? I saved a fortune!!! I cannot believe I have shopped in Xceland for so long thinking I was getting a good deal. I don't always do the food shop my OH usually does it on a meal by meal basis and I usually do the every other month big shop. Great day today really really chuffed. :D I have been to As*a before but always used to spend a fortune.

They even have cleaning stuff!!!! :-) the trolley was bursting and I spent £90 on what would usually be £170 easily!!!!! I mean rice pudding 15p a can I thought 2 for £1 was a good deal....Pmsl.:rotfl:

Okay and breathe.........the crazy in me is definitely coming out.

Also insurance finally settled car finance :j:beer: so I need to make my mind up on what I'm doing about a car.

Yesterday I sat the family down and got us all to write down five different meals each one to give my husband ideas and two so I knew what I needed to buy today.

I'm back at work tomorrow so best get to bed. Night peeps :-)

thats brilliant news about the car finance, they certainly drag things out

Shopping sounds a bargain, its def worth trying the basics range as if you dont like them you can up a brand, its all trial and error but you get there in the end xx

  • Great news about the finance!

I generally buy the store's own brand stuff except on a few things - need my Heinz, Nescafe & Tetleys! It's a great bargain isn't it and as mum2one said, if you don't like you can go up one. Most of the items are brilliant though.

    Have a good day!
