Short Changed In Supermarket

Hi All,
In the newsagents I work at, I like customers to say 'Thats £10' etc, when they give you a note, as its reminds you clearly of what they note they gave you - I tend to do the same myself when paying with cash.
Cheers

I may be wrong on this, but I believe that you can demand recordings from CCTV as part of a Data Subject Access request under the Data Protection Act.
You would have to specify the exact time/date/place, but it might be worth a try?Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!0 -
I am a supermarket cashier and I always leave the notes on top of the till until I have given the change in case of any query. However we all make mistakes sometimes and just yesterday I short changed a lady by £5 because we were chatting away. I did realise straight away though and gave her the money. She hadn't noticed either but was quite happy.
In our store if there is any problem the till would be checked straight away so I think this should have happened.
We also have daily staff checks too, where our pockets and shoes have to be checked so please don't think that a corrupt cashier would get away with it easily.0 -
How awful to have your pockets and shoes checked! Do they check anywhere else?????:rotfl: Are you told when you start with the company not to put your own money in your pockets or shoes??I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

Your own things, purses, bags etc must be left in your locker (which also get checked sometimes). You can't take your own money anywhere near your till.0

This does not help now but I always say to the cashier "I am giving you £10.30" or whatever. Mind you I dont carry much cahs these days but when I do I also try to only use £5 notes rather than £10 or £20 (less to loose if there's a mistake) and if I get cash back at the till I always ask for fivers.
