I wouldn't expect you to appreciate my praise to a fellow tradesman - Blowing smoke up someones whatever is how you percieve it sadly, Mr Ted appreciates it as what it is - a slap on the back for a job well done - it makes a difference.

And my post wasn't intended to be anything positive or negative about your situation, I hope that you can understand that.

I tink this is exactly the respose required - a very long winded and detailed version of everything that has been said before!

Well done Mr Ted to taking the time and effort.... let's hope it's appreciated.

    Beers all around I think

I agree, but something tells me someone is going to have to post exactly the same thing again before it sticks,:rotfl::rotfl:, sorry OP;) he is right.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Who is right? Mr Ted? I'm not disputing that. You can't be talking about Ruski there because there is no right/wrong with what he said. It was just unnecessary.

Mr Ted's last post was brilliant - full of information & NO real attitude. Very helpful. Some of what he said i already knew, some i didn't. I don't have a problem with that. The problem i have is when people bring a needless attitude. Example - anotherbaldbrick there. What was the need in that? I didn't say "if anotherbaldbrick responds then i'm going to act up" so why come into it with an attitude? Because someone doesn't know as much as you do? That's life.

Also, people say i don't listen. I do. Just because i may not understand doesn't mean i don't listen. Just because i think i've understood when in actual fact i haven't doesn't mean i don't listen.

When i tell someone i've got someone coming out & they tell me i should get someone out & i'm sat on my !!!! not doing anything - THAT is not listening.

You can tell me one thing & the next man can tell me the exact same thing, I may not understand you but i may understand him & then you accuse me of not listening. This is just generalisation & not directed at any member in particular. It just means the next man put it in a way i could understand. I'm a member of a computer forum & there's one chap in the networking dept who is incredibly knowledgeable ... the only problem is he point blank refuses to explain in simple terms & uses jargon throughout. If you don't know about networking anyway then he may as well put it up in morse code. He then gets P'd off when you ask for things simplifying. Not your fault - not everyone is born knowing & everyone picks up in different ways at different rates.

Anyway, that's by the by, we've got folk out for 3 of the 4 jobs we need doing. There is a lad who will (should) be calling me this week about the sump pump who i'm very happy for him to do the work as he comes very highly recommended. If he doesn't get back in touch then i'll try a plumber as advised here (there's that me listening thing again :)) and i will use Mr Ted's info to make sure they do the job thorough.

  • And still people don't stop. I wonder why. Have they got nothing better to do? It seems not. Internet trolls. Keyboard warriors. Well done to you.

Quite simply i'm in a no win situation. I could do the job to the letter of what Mr Ted says & you'll !!!!! & moan regardless.
  • Do you often find people getting frustrated with you

    Only on MSE it seems.

I do however often find myself getting frustrated with other people & the way they don't listen & then accuse others of not listening. Hmm.
  • They don't listen ? that's what they used to say was the pot calling the kettle [strike]black[/strike] a darker shade of hue.
