My posts were based on my reasons why I find console gaming cheaper so it makes no difference to me if it costs other people more. I never said anyone else could get them so cheap, but any game I want I find it cheap. I've seen plenty I've bought come up in the Steam sales and they've been the same or more than I've paid and I'll have already had the game months. It's not really luck when I buy games cheap all the time.
As to this being the way you get your games, I don't doubt it. But there's little value to the wider debate of you heavily relying on your own personal experience when it so vastly differs from the average person. The average person doesn't have the time, knowledge or means to buy games in the way that you do, so relying on your own experience in the wider debate of 'console gaming v pc gaming' is rather pointless, because it is nowhere close to the norm. It works for you, but not as a general principle."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? IF WORD GETS OUT THATI'M MISSING FIVE HUNDRED GIRLS WILL KILL THEMSELVES."0 -

Every single deal that you listed was not widely available and will have had very limited stock. You can talk semantics all you want regarding whether or not those games were in sales, but the simple fact of the matter is that the majority of those games have never been widely available at retail at the prices that you quoted. That is in stark contrast to Steam sales, where every game is available to everyone at the price stated irrespective of where they live or when they log on.
That was never my point. Never did I say anyone else could get them. The post was on the fact that I get games cheap.
"I don't think console ever have such sales."
"They don't. However, I find games stupidly cheap all the time."
As above, I even said console games aren't in such sales.
Still, a sale is a sale regardless of platform. So what if one somewhat subject to stock levels? If thousands of people can get games cheap at some point - even if not every sale - it still means there is a chance that they are getting a console game cheaper than a PC one. I'm not saying console sales are better or everyone gets them but I bet there are people who have missed out on Steam deals too. Maybe not for stock reasons but other reasons. There's often an element of luck in such things. For example, it's likely that your Skyward Sword deal at 98p was from Currys or PC World. You getting that deal will have required you to get down to your local store pretty sharpish once the sale started (most top titles were gone after the first morning), and then been fortunate enough that they had stock of the title. Same with Morrisons deals.
Actually Skyward was from Morrisons, although I get a couple of games for the same price from Currys/PC World. I'd forgotten about them.
I don't have a store that's really local and I certainly didn't go there sharpish.
Anyway, I buy probably more than half of my games online and most aren't in sales. Anyone could find the same games and buy them first or as well as me, or find other games for cheap. There's plenty I see cheap that I don't buy - no doubt someone buys them.
Generally it's less about luck and more about a minute of research. I mean, I have a really good knowledge on the value of games so I know a good deal when I see it, but even those that don't a minute of research and price checking is all that's needed. Anyone can do that.As to this being the way you get your games, I don't doubt it. Actually it wouldn't take that much effort for others to get a fair amount of their games cheaper as I said above.
There is no wider debate and I have no idea why you think there is. This conversation about PC vs console was between me and oliviabatty and was only ever about what we both preferred and why and our experiences. They listed some games they got cheap, I listed a few that I got cheap. That's it. A simple discussion, no debate.0 -
I'm on my second ps3...my first was bought when the 60gb were being discontinued. It lasted me about 5 years IICR. Then the YLOD struck. I was gutted. Had to pay a lot to get it fixed by a company out of town as Sony would often not send your console back - only a refurb. So got it fixed, got my data off and sold it and got a new one. It keeps crashing a lot though (especially on 4od and bbi) - really do hope it's not on it's way out.
They don't make 'em like they use to. My PS2 and PS1 have lasted me far longer with my PS2 only failing the year before last. I reckon the more technology to go into it, the more to go wrong.0 -
The problem was the software was always better than the hardware. A bit like Nigel Mansell ragging a Nissan Micra.
I have the Ps4, and its really good. Very quiet and well ventilated. I think they have learnt from their mistakes.. i hope.0
